HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN ?

1. How to become a Christian?
Basically, there are two parts. The first part pertaining to the human level. Take a person who, for example   one day by a Christian friend's invitation, attended a church service and listened to a sermon and  was interested in the sermon concerning Jesus Christ and eternal life. And he/she continues to go to church to listen to God's word and places his/her trust in Jesus Christ as his/her Savior to forgive his/her sins. He/she recognized by the enlightenment of the God's word that he/she indeed lived a life far short of God's laws and was disobedient to God. So he/she believes the Bible concerning Jesus Christ died for his/her sins on  the cross in his/her stead and also believes that God resurrected Jesus Christ  in the third day to fully accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice for his/her atonement. At that instant of placing faith in Jesus Christ, he/she was born again by the Holy Spirit and become a Christian. The following are taught by the Bible about this process:

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 10:8-10
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

The second part is God's love and Grace to enable you to believe and become a child of God. God chose you before the foundation of the world to become a believer.
The Holy Scripture teaches us the following:

Ephesians 2:1-10
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

John 15:16 You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

Romans 8:29-30
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

Part 2 is the foundation of Part 1. If you do Part 1, repent and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe that God resurrected Him in the third day. Then you are saved and is a Christian according to the Bible. Once you believed, you may want to say a prayer like this:
"Dear Holy God, I repented my sins and am deeply sorry that I offended you. Please forgive my sins because I place my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe that He died for me at the cross and His precious blood cleanses all my sins. I believe that You resurrected Him in the third day and now sits at your right side in heavens with full authority and glory. In Jesus precious Name, Amen.

Praise the Lord, welcome to God's family as His child. Do go to a bible loving church for your growth in Jesus Christ's likeness and learn to love Him with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your might.

Why study the Bible?

First of all, the purpose of studying the Bible is to know our God. Main theme of the Bible is Jesus Christ our Lord. You may say,  I know that is true in New Testament. But it is also true in Old Testament as well. As you know, God was the King for His chosen people Israel. But Israel wanted a human king to lead them. And that was a tragical choice as well among so many unfaithful deeds. God gave Israel laws, and prophets to guide them to their Messiah.

So to study the Bible is to know our short of God's glory and feel it, in our bones so to speak, that It is God who sent Jesus Christ to save us because Adam's descendants are so contaminated that they will all perish if God did not come to save us.
Our God is not like gods in the Greek mythology full of conflicts among themselves. Neither does our God like the idols of the gentile nations full of human invention on their images. We need to study the Bible to know our wickedness, our inadequacies, and our ultimate need for the only  awesome God who is indeed full of compassions towards the human race.

When we study the Bible to know God, we need to know His natures, His power, His wisdom, His love, and His glory. Actually according to the Bible, "19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them." (Romans1:19). So you may ask why do we study the Bible. The Bible reminds us the following:

1. We are totally lost, individually and collectively. It is indeed very sad, isn't it. Why? All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. (Isaiah 53:6)

2. Not only we are far short of God's glory because of our sin, we do not repent to acknowledge Him.
"21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened." (Romans 1:21)

3. We love darkness more than light. Some even want to restore the dark kingdom happening right before our eyes in the middle east.

So to study the Bible is to know the immensity of God the Father's love to send Jesus Christ to save us, the unfathomable love of our Lord Jesus Christ to die on our behalves, and the long suffering of God the Holy Spirit to shepherd us during our pilgrim towards our heavenly home. This was done and is being done to save the totally lost, rebellious, unlovable, and ungrateful people like us.

So to study the Bible is to know our God, to know the world, and to know ourselves. Because our enemies are so devious, so evil, and so wicked, we need the Bible to equip us to do goods.
"16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." (2 Tim 3:16-17)

But ultimately, we study the Bible to follow our Lord Jesus Christ, to love Him with all our might and with all our heart. And most of all, to rejoice in Him and to enjoy His Glory forever and ever, Amen!

Relationship and Quality of life

As we grow older, our value system may change because we are more keenly towards things which are more precious to us. For example, in a disaster situation such as  a house fire, after getting all the people out, many people tend to save their bible and family pictures. If you ask them why, the overall answers seem to be that those pictures are irreplaceable. Why? Because they treasure the relationship and memories of those relationships.

Thus, human relationship  is a key factor in our quality of life. Obviously, this goes both ways. A great relationship enhances quality of life and a lousy relationship has a negative impact to our quality of life. Since we are influenced greatly by our close associates, it is important that we choose carefully our associations.

The Bible clearly teaches us  this truth in Psalm 1:1-3
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

We might ask what consists of a good relationship? From our experience, most important factor in a great relationship appears to be " can enjoy each other's company."  In other words, a good company means that we can talk freely and enjoy talking with each other. Thus, a good relationship needs to be cherished and nurtured as it is indeed rare and very precious.

As we grow older, many good friends departed due to old age. For many old folks, they are lonely and actually quite resign to this sad situation. That is why in this gospel website we keep encourage folks to seek also eternal relationship with our Creator God. The Bible tells us that not many things last forever. The world and its lusts eventually will pass away. However, a few things will last into eternality: they are faith, hope, and love. It is therefore of essential importance that we beech you and encourage you to seek a blessed relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ who loves His own and save them into eternal relationship. This is what He said to His own that will include you if you believe in Him:

John 17:24
24 Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Our Lord Jesus loves us to eternality:
John 13:1
13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Our Lord promises us that because He lives, we shall live also.
John 14:19
19 After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.

It is indeed beyond our comprehension that God pledges His divinity to love us and to guarantee our eternal life with Him; a blessed and never interrupted eternal fellowship. What a blessed Lord Jesus Christ we have. May He receive honor, adoration, and worship from us forever and ever, Amen.
