Of all the issues of a life, the ultimate issue is that we will be sad if we can not live forever.

The issue of death is the mother of all problems.  Everyone will face this issue and need to resolve this in one's life.  All mankind in history has to face to this issue.  So are we.

A few reminders from the Bible...

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 1:9-12

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God





So to a believer of Jesus Christ, this issue is already solved by Him for us.  This is a huge blessing and the ultimate gift to us.  We need to be grateful everyday in this eternal life.

Topic A: 生命的最終議題

能被永恆的上帝祝福，的確是大有福分的！

有關生命的所有問題中，最終的問題是--如果我們不能永存,我們一定會無比傷心的。死亡是所有問題的根源。每個人都會面對這個問題，也是生命中必須解決的問題。歷史上所有的人類都必須面對這個問題，我們也是如此。

聖經的一些提示，應該可以幫助我們。

「神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的不致滅亡，反得永生。  因為神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪，乃是要叫世人因他得救。(約翰3:16-17)





那光是真光，照亮一切生在世上的人。  他在世界，世界也是藉著他造的，世界卻不認識他。  他到自己的地方來，自己的人倒不接待他。  凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄做神的兒女。(約翰1:9-12)

所以作為耶穌基督的信徒，這個問題已經由主耶穌為我們解決了。 這是一個巨大的祝福，也是給我們的最美好禮物。 我們要每天都感謝這永恆的生命。 

請想一想，在生命中的每分鐘，都要感謝上帝，對你而言的重大意義。 

What we see in life are quite interesting. It appears that life is a process. It starts at one's birth and ends at one's death. What happened in between are the paths of lives in all history. In the human history, there are no lacks of attempts from all walks of life trying to understand and to solve this issue.

Where are we from

According to the Bible, God created the universe and everything things in it. God created man in His image because, according to Rev 21:3, God likes to fellowship with His people and per Gen1:26, God wanted men to be His agents in managing His created world. All the problems with mankind and this world are due to corruptions. And the corruptions came to this world, per Genesis Chapter 3, are due to the evil deeds of the devil who tricked Adam and Eve to sin against God and hence corruptions reign the world. So, we can say that Devil brought death to this world because he wants to reigh over the world by death.

 

Why all men die

It is indeed a big deal to know why we must die because it states in Roman 5:12, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned" (NASV)

Now, from chemistry experiments,we know that purification is a difficult process. To totally remove an impurity substance, the energy involved is absolutely astronomical because we would have to remove the impurity to the molecle/atom level. So you can imagine the wickedness of the devil and the sadness of God when all His creation was corrupted.

God's Salvation Provision

Of course, God can abandon the corrupted universe and recreates the world. But that option does not do us any good, because we are part of the corrupted world. So the salvation of God, which really warms our hearts by His love, consists of not only the creation of new heavens and new earth but also,more important to us,  the provision to save us. It is this provision to save us, the corrupted sinners, which costed God without measure -- the death of His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who was crucified at Calvery more than two thousand years ago to pay our sins.

Our issue

Thus, our issue is not the death part of our lives which was already solved for us by our Lord Jesus Christ  but more about how to live our current life in a corrupted world, particularly how to overcome our corrupted nature in our flesh. This is not an easy one but this is much easier than the impossible way of trying to solve the eternal life issue without Jesus Christ.

A few Bible verses as a reminder...

1 Peter 1:16-21

Because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy."

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

1 John 4:7-11  

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.



Topic B:生命的真相與救贖



我們所看到的生命是很有趣的。生命是一個的過程。這條生命線開始於一個人的出生和結束於一個人的死亡。發生在這兩者之間的種種，也就是人類歷史。換言之,歷史就是所有上千上億生命線所有過程的總和了。在人類歷史上，一直有不斷的嘗試要理解和解決這個問題。

我們來自何處

根據聖經記載，上帝創造了宇宙和宇宙中的所有東西。上帝依他的形象，創造了人；因為根據啟示錄21:3，神要親自與他的子民們同在；而且根據創世紀1:26，神要人代理他，管理他所創造的世界。人類和這個世界所有的問題是來自腐敗。根據創世記第3章，腐敗來到這個世界上，是由於魔鬼欺騙亞當和夏娃得罪上帝的惡行，因此,腐敗統治世界。我們可以說，魔鬼給世界帶來死亡、是因為他想用死亡來統治這世界。

為什麼所有的人都會死亡



 知道我們為什麼必須死，的確是一個大啟示。羅馬書5:12這樣說:

  “這就如罪是從一人入了世界，死又是從罪來的，於是死就臨到眾人，因為眾人都犯了罪。“

從化學實驗我們知道，淨化是一個很困難的化學過程。要完全去除有雜質， 絕對是需要龐大的能量；因為我們必須從分子及原子中，將雜質除去。所以，你可以想像， 魔鬼敗壞這世界的行為是多麼的邪惡；同時我們也可体会上帝對他的創作被損壞時的悲傷。 

上帝的救贖
 
當然，上帝可以放棄已損壞的宇宙，並重新創建世界；但是，這並不對我們有什麼好處，因為我們屬已損壞世界的一部分。因此，上帝的救贖我們，真是用他的愛、溫暖了我們的心；上帝不僅將來要創造新天新地；對我們而言更重要的是，提供我們救贖的大恩。上帝不計一切、為拯救已敗壞、有罪的我們；用他的獨生子、我們的主耶穌二千多年前的親自捨身、被釘在十字架上來支付我們的罪。這是主耶穌無比浩瀚的救恩.

我們的議題

因此，我們的議題，不在於我們的主耶穌基督已為我們解決、我們生命會死亡的部份；乃是在於此生、我們如何生活在一個汚染腐朽的世界。特別是如何克服我們肉體已損壞的本性。這是不容易的，但是這仍然比不靠主耶穌基督、試圖自己去解決永恆生命的嘗試是更容易的。 

聖經經文的提醒.......

彼得前書1:16-21

 因為經上記著說：「你們要聖潔，因為我是聖潔的。」  你們既稱那不偏待人、按各人行為審判人的主為父，就當存敬畏的心度你們在世寄居的日子，  知道你們得贖，脫去你們祖宗所傳流虛妄的行為，不是憑著能壞的金銀等物，  乃是憑著基督的寶血，如同無瑕疵、無玷汙的羔羊之血。  基督在創世以前是預先被神知道的，卻在這末世才為你們顯現。  你們也因著他，信那叫他從死裡復活，又給他榮耀的神，叫你們的信心和盼望都在於神。

約翰一書4:7-11

親愛的弟兄啊，我們應當彼此相愛，因為愛是從神來的。凡有愛心的，都是由神而生，並且認識神。 沒有愛心的，就不認識神，因為神就是愛。 神差他獨生子到世間來，使我們藉著他得生，神愛我們的心在此就顯明了。  不是我們愛神，乃是神愛我們，差他的兒子為我們的罪做了挽回祭，這就是愛了。  親愛的弟兄啊，神既是這樣愛我們，我們也當彼此相愛。  



Why do we need to know ourselves?

Life is a journey and like a captain of your ship you need to know the performance record of your ship.

Some people are so selfish and their self-centeredness shows up in the poor relationship with people. Some people have so short temper that their family members, particularly their children, suffer greatly because of this defect. When we want to know ourselves, we should know our bents as well. For example, some people have a tendency to lie. We should know ourselves pretty well because of our past experience  and performance. Also, we should know our limitations due to our physical, spiritual, and culture background and upbringing. For example, if you were from a class divided culture, you will be influenced by the prejudice of that setting. Here are a few reminders from the Scripture:

• Know that you have an unredeemed flesh that is bent for sinning
  • 1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
  • 1 John 3:4 - Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
• Know that, instead of selfish to the bone, Christ calls us to be His disciples. Self-denial and gratefulness towards God are the best attitudes of navigating through the world.
  • Matthew 16:24 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me."
• Know that we shall trust the bible teaching rather than ourselves because of the deceptiveness of our heart which will rationalize to support our desires.
  • Matthew 15:19 - For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.
  • Jeremiah 17:9 - The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it?
• Knowing ourselves is one thing but to improve ourselves is quite another thing.  Judging from the  failure rate of statistics of the new year resolutions, we need to pray for God's help.
  • Ps 104:30 - You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.
  • Ps 105:4 - Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.
  • 1 Cor 1:30 - But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption. 
•  Knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us that He is the vine and we are His branches. Without Him, we can do nothing fruitful and meaningful. We need to learn to rely on Him and listen to Holy Spirit promptings in carrying out our daily lives. 

                 * John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches;

                    he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit,

                     for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Topic C: 我們需要了解自己

為什麼我們需要了解自己？生命是一個旅程，作為你的船長，你需要知道你的船的性能記錄。 有些人是如此自私。他們自我中心的習慣，造成不好的人際關係。有些人因急躁的壞脾氣，對他們的家庭成員，特別是自己的孩子，造成極大的傷害。當我們要了解自己時，我們應該知道我們性情的傾向。例如，有些人有說謊的傾向。由我們過去的經歷及表現，應該很容易了解自己。此外，由我們的身體、精神、文化背景和成長環境，也可以知道自己的局限。例如，如果你來自有階級的文化，你會受其偏見的影響。

 這裡有幾個經文提醒我們﹕

• 知道你有個尚未被救贖,有犯罪傾向的肉體

         約翰一書 1:8–我們若說自己無罪，便是自欺，真理不在我們心裡了.

   約翰一書 3:4–凡犯罪的，就是違背律法，違背律法就是罪。

儘管我們的自私的本性，基督召我們要捨己背起十字架作他的門徒。自我否定和對神的感激是生活在此世界最好的的態度。

  
          馬太福音16:24–於是，耶穌對門徒說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，背起他的十字架來跟從我。

• 我們要信靠“聖經”，而不要我們自己。因為我們的心常常迷惑、而且會用理性來掩蓋支持我們的慾望。
   
  馬太15:19 -因為從心裡發出來的，有惡念、凶殺、姦淫、苟合、偷盜、妄證、誹謗。 
  耶17:9 -人心比萬物都詭詐，壞到極處，誰能識透呢？

• 了解自己是一回事，但改善自己且是另一回事。從統計學對新年新志向的失敗率來判斷，我們需要祈求神的幫助。

          詩篇104:30 -你發出你的靈，他們便受造；你使地面更換為新.

             詩105:4 -要尋求耶和華與他的能力，時常尋求他的面。 

             哥林多前書1:30 -但你們得在基督耶穌裡,是本乎神.神又使他成為我們的智慧、公義、聖潔、救贖。

• 主耶穌教訓我們要像枝子接在葡萄主幹上。我們每天的生活要依靠主耶穌、要順從聖靈的敦促引領，才能作主的工，結主的果子。不要以為自己是領袖，我行我素，喜愛控制批評，不得主的喜悅。

 約 翰 福 音 15:5

 我 是 葡 萄 樹 ， 你 們 是 枝 子 。 常 在 我 裡 面 的 ， 我 也 常 在 他 裡 面 ， 這 人 就 多 結 果 子 ；

 因 為 離 了 我 ， 你 們 就 不 能 做 甚 麼 。



According to the Bible, Christians are called out from the world to be sanctified for the service of our Lord. We are in the world but are separated from the world.  In other word, we do not belong to the world. Rather our citizenship is in the heavenly kingdom. Beneath all this is that the world is corrupted and the devil is its king. Before we get any further, we need to know that the world refers to the world system(s) which are corrupted and wicked.

So what do we, as believers of Jesus Christ, need to know about this world?

Here are a few reminders from the Bible…

• First according to the Bible, the world and all in it were created by God and hence belong rightfully to God. The world has been in defiance against God since the usurper devil took hold of the world. Per Romans 1:20-21, even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks. This is easily confirmed by the world situations throughout the human history.

• Secondly, the world is operated against the God's laws. Per 1 John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." This is also easily confirmed from what happens in the world today.

• Thirdly, the world hates Jesus Christ our Lord. Per John 17:14, our Lord told us in His high-priestly prayer, "I have given them Thy word and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." Thus, the Bible told us that there will be conflicts between God's servants and devil's servants. That is why our Lord indicates in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." 

• Fourthly, in the last days, the world will be judged by our Lord at His second coming. In the meantime, we need to take courage because we will overcome the world per 1 John 5:4-5, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

Topic D: 瞭解世界

根據聖經，基督徒是由世界各地被選召來、分別為聖為我們的主服務的。我們存在世界各地，但是與這世界的價值觀分離的。換句話說，我們不屬於這世界。相反地；我們的公民身份、是在天國。在這一切之下，這世界是已被汚染破壞，被魔鬼所主宰；魔鬼已成這世界的王。在我們更進一步探討前；我們需要知道，在這裡所指的這個世界，是指一個已損毀、且邪惡的世界系統。

所以，我們作為耶穌基督的信徒、需要知道這個世界。

 這裡有一些從“聖經”來的提醒：

• 首先，根據“聖經”，世界及其一切、都是由我們的上帝所創造的，也理當屬於上帝。但這個世界被魔鬼篡位後，便一直在反抗上帝了。羅馬1：20–21說:
      

“因為，他們雖然知道神，卻不當作神榮耀他，也不感謝他。他們的思念變為虛妄，無知的心就昏暗了。”

這是很容易由人類歷史中的世界形勢得到證實。

• 其次，世界是在違反上帝的律法下操作。由約翰2：16說：

“因為凡世界上的事，就像肉體的情慾，眼目的情慾，並今生的驕傲，都不是從父來的，乃是從世界來的。”

這也很容易從今天在世界上發生了什麼得到證實。

• 第三，世界是恨我們的主耶穌基督。在約翰福音17:14，我們的主、在他的大祭司的祈禱中告訴我們﹕

“我已將你的道賜給他們。世界又恨他們；因為他們不屬世界，正如我不屬世界一樣。”

因此，聖經告訴我們，神的僕人和魔鬼的僕人之間會有衝突。這就是為什麼我們的主在約翰福音16：33，清楚的指示：

“我將這些事告訴你們，是要叫你們在我裡面有平安。在世上，你們有苦難；但你們可以放心，我已經勝了世界。”

• 第四，在最後的日子裡；主將再次蒞臨這世界，世界將由我們的主來審判。 在主未來之前，我們需要勇氣，因為我們將克服這世界（約翰一書5﹕4–5）﹕

“因為凡從神生的，就勝過世界；使我們勝了世界的，就是我們的信心。 勝過世界的是誰呢？不是那信耶穌是神兒子的麼？”

God is the creator of the universe and hence He is outside the four dimensional time and space continum. The humankind is part of the creation and hence we are within the space and time domain. It is therefore quite clear that we have no way of knowing God unless God chooses to reveal Himself. Indeed, this loving God did reveal Himself through His prophets and in the last days through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Lord as recorded in the Holy Scripture. 

• He is the only God in the universe and there is no other God besides Him.  He is the only Savior of mankind.
  • Deut 6:4-5  - “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
  • Isaiah 43:10-13  10  “You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord,“And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. 11  “I, even I, am the Lord; And there is no savior besides Me.  12   “It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, And there was no strange god among you; So you are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “And I am God.   13   “Even from eternity I am He; And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?”
• He is righteous and just
  • Prov 15:8-9 - The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves one who pursues righteousness.
  • Prov 20:10 - Differing weights and differing measures, Both of them are abominable to the Lord.
  • Prov 22:22-23 - Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Or crush the afflicted at the gate; For the Lord will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.
• He is sovereign and in control of the history and the future. Only God can do this.
  • Isaiah 46:9-11 - “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it.
• He is eternal, almighty, merciful, and commends our obedience, worship, and adoration.
  • Isaiah 45:22-23 - Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. “I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness. And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.
• He is declared through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Lord.  
  • See the Gospel of John.
  • Also, Heb 1:1-2 - God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,  in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

Topic E: 認識你的神

神是宇宙的創造者。因此，他是在連續的四度時間和空間之外的。人類是被創造的一部分；因此，我們是在空間和時間領域裡。所以，是很清楚；我們沒有辦法知道上帝，除非上帝選擇顯示祂自己。事實上，在聖經中，這位慈愛的上帝透過他的先知，及在最後的日子裡、經由他的獨生子、我們的主耶穌基督，已顯示祂自己。 

• 他在宇宙中是唯一的神;除了他沒有其他的神。他是人類唯一的救主。

• 他是公義的和正直的

“惡人獻祭，為耶和華所憎惡；正直人祈禱，為他所喜悅。”

“ 惡人的道路，為耶和華所憎惡；追求公義的，為他所喜愛。”

“兩樣的法碼，兩樣的升斗，都為耶和華所憎惡。”

“貧窮人，你不可因他貧窮就搶奪他的物，也不可在城門口欺壓困苦人；” 因耶和華必為他辨屈；搶奪他的，耶和華必奪取那人的命。”

• 他是至高無尚全權的,而且控制了歷史和未來。只有上帝才能做到這一點。

• 他是永恆的，全知全能的，慈愛的；並且應受我們服從，崇拜和愛慕。

• 他通過他的獨生子我們的主耶穌基督，向我們啟示曉諭的。
  • 參閱約翰福音
  • 希伯來書1﹕1–2﹕“神既在古時藉著眾先知多次多方的曉諭列祖，” “ 就在這末世藉著他兒子曉諭我們；又早已立他為承受萬有的，也曾藉著他創造諸世界。”

This has been a major question since the beginning of human curiosity. And there is no lack of ideas and speculations throughout the human history. Issues such as being, existence, and perceptibility have been studied and restudied by many philosophers. With all of those speculations, don't you think that we should at least ask the Creator first? It is fair to say that without the revelation by our Creator, it would be much harder for human kind to arrive at things that are objective and independently verifiable.

Someone may say that the reality consists of all that we can see, feel, or touch. But we know today that there are many things existed beyond our sensory ranges. For example, we cannot see, feel, or touch x-rays and yet we know that x-rays exist.  Similarly, atoms exist and are invisible to our eyes. Thus, it is quite clear that the reality is much bigger than that can be sensed by our physical senses. Just because things that we cannot see do not mean that they are not important for us. What we have just discussed is the physical world. However, things beyond the physical world may exist even we cannot see them...

It is important to know that God created time and space and all that in the universe. The Bible reminds us the following in the first day of God's creation…

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.  (Gen 1:2)

Because light is so important for everything,  God created light right after He created the heavens and the earth. Now humanly speaking, without light we cannot see a thing, let alone perform all our activities. Thus, 'be able to see' may shape our limited understanding of many things including the environment and the reality. But we should always remember that just because we do not see them should not allow our arrogance in ignoring the importance of them.

A. Man was created with body, soul, and spirit

The Bible told us that…

And the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man become a living being.(Gen 2:7)

Because of God's breath, man was created with a physical body, soul, and spirit. This can be seen from many Bible verses such as 2 Tim 4:22, I Thes 5:23, and 1 Cor 15:44-49.  More importantly, our Lord Jesus Christ taught us that…

God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth. (John 4:24)

B. Total reality includes visible physical and invisible spiritual worlds

So it is clear to know that the reality includes both physical world and spiritual realm. Since God is spirit who created the physical world, it would mean that the reality of the spiritual world will be a much essential part of the total reality.  Please read how the Bible reminds us on this…

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor 4:18)

Now you may ask why so many people spend all their time on pursuing the things that are on earth. This is indeed a great question. Please keep thinking about it and your thinking process will benefit you indeed, once you know what the total reality is.

C. Invisible Spiritual Light 

Perhaps you have a better question. How do we know the invisible spiritual world?  We know that in the physical world, we need physical light to see things. For those things in the physical world that we cannot see, we need to rely on a right instrument to "see" them.  In other word, to see spiritual things we need spiritual light. Why? Because not all spirits are good. We may ask, then, what is the spiritual light. Let us see what the Bible tells us.

According to the gospel of Luke concerning the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, from the mouth of Zacharias,

        "Because of the tender mercy of our God,

         With which the Sunrise from on high shall visit us, 

         To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,

         To guide our feet into the way of peace" (Luke 1:78-79)

If you do not see that our Lord Jesus Christ  is our Light, the Bible also remind us the following about our Lord Jesus in the gospel of John…

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God 

He was in the beginning with God

All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." (John 1:1-5)

This is very clear that if anyone wants to lead a spiritual life, one needs to come to Jesus Christ our Savior. Now, if you want more enlightenment, the Bible further reminds us the following…

           For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness,"

           is the One who has shone in our hearts

           to give the light of the knowledge of the glory  of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor 4:6)

D. Jesus Christ is the Light of Life 

Finally, our Lord revealed Himself as follows…

Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).

The light of life is Jesus Christ as also revealed in 1 Cor 15:45 as follows…

So also it is written, "The first man, Adam became a living soul," The last Adam became a life-giving spirit"

Therefore, we can draw the following conviction: To fulfill our life in total reality, we need the light of life, our Lord Jesus Christ.   May He be our upmost treasure and may He be praised through the exercise of our faith and obedience in Him in our lives.

Topic F: 現實的真相是什麼？

從人類有好奇心開始，這便是一個主要的問題。在整個人類歷史上、不乏想法和猜測，像存在、感知的問題，就是一再被許多哲學家，研究又再研究的議題。有這麼多的猜測，你不覺得我們至少應該先問問創造主嗎。應該公平地說，如果沒有我們的造物主的啟示，人類很難得到可用客觀和獨立能證實的結論。

有人可能會說，現實的真相是那我們可以看到、感覺或觸摸到的。但是，我們今天知道，有很多事物的存在，是超出了我們的感官的範圍。例如，我們無法看到，感覺或觸摸的X射線；但我們知道，X-射線是存在的。同樣，原子的存在，也是我們的眼睛無法見到的。因此，這是很清楚的，真相是遠遠大於我們的感官可以感覺到。因此，不能只因為是我們看不到的東西，就意味著他們對我們並不重要。我們剛才討論的是物質世界。然而，即使我們不能看到他們，仍然有許多東西是存在於物質世界之外的。

我們要知道，上帝創造了時間和空間，以及宇宙中所有的一切。以下是聖經提醒我們，上帝第一天的創造﹕

 然後，上帝說：“要有光”，就有了光。（創1:3）

這是非常有趣的，因為光線是非常重要的，上帝創造了天和地之後，他隨即創造了光。現在從人的觀點來看，沒有光，我們無法看到任何東西，更不用說能執行我們所有的活動。因此，“能夠看到”可能會影響我們對很多事情有限的了解，這包括對環境和真相的了解。但是，我們應該永遠記住，不能只因我們沒有看到他們，我們就用傲慢去忽略他們的重要性。

A. 上帝造人，使人俱有靈、魂、和身體

聖經告訴我們，

“耶和華神用地上的塵土造人，將生氣吹在他鼻孔裡，他就成了有靈的活人。”（創2:7）

因為神的氣息，人就俱有了身體，魂和靈。這可以從許多聖經經文看出來；例如﹕提摩太後書4﹕22（願主與你的靈同在。願恩惠常與你們同在。），帖撒羅尼迦前書5﹕23（願賜平安的神親自使你們全然成聖‧又願你們的靈與魂與身子得蒙保守，在我主耶穌基督降臨的時候，完全無可指摘。）和哥林多前書15:44-49。更重要的是，我們的主耶穌基督有如下的教導:

神是個靈，所以拜他的必須用心靈和誠實拜他。（約翰福音4:24）

B. 真相整體是包括有形可見的物質界和無形不可見的靈界



因此，現實的真相包括物質的世界和靈界，是非常清楚的。因為上帝是靈。祂却能創造了物質世界；這表示靈界的真相是整體現實的真相中、更重要的組成部分。請仔細閱讀聖經有關這部份的提示。



“原來我們不是顧念所見的，乃是顧念所不見的；因為所見的是暫時的，所不見的是永遠的。”（林後4:18）

現在，你可能會問，為什麼有這麼多的人、把時間都花在追求地球上的東西。這確實是問得很好的問題。讓我們繼續思考這個問題，因為一旦你知道什麼是真實的整體，你的思維過程，將確實對你的觀點有極大的幫助。

C. 無形的靈界之光

也許你有一個更好的問題。我們怎麼知道無形的靈界呢？我們知道，在物質世界中，我們需要的物質世界之光來看東西。對於那些在物質世界中，我們看不到的東西，我們需要依靠一個合適的儀器，能夠測量來“看到”它們。換句話說，要看見靈界層面的東西，我們需要有靈性之光。為什麼呢？這是因為不是所有的靈界之“事物”都是好的。我們可能會問，那麼，什麼是靈界之光呢﹖讓我們來看看聖經、告訴我們什麼。

根據路加福音，有關 撒迦利亞對我們主耶穌的道成肉身的預言，

“因我們神憐憫的心腸，叫清晨的日光從高天臨到我們， 要照亮坐在黑暗中死蔭裡的人，把我們的腳引到平安的路上。”（路加福音1:78-79）

如果你還沒有看到我們的主耶穌基督是我們的光，聖經也在約翰福音有關主耶穌中，如此提醒我們:



“太初有道，道與神同在，道就是神。這道太初與神同在。萬物是藉著他造的；凡被造的，沒有一樣不是藉著他造的。生命在他裡頭，這生命就是人的光。光照在黑暗裡，黑暗卻不接受光。”約翰福音1:1-5）

這是很清楚的，如果有人想過一個屬靈的生活，人們就需要我們的救主耶穌基督。如果你想要更多的啟示，聖經進一步提醒我們：



“那吩咐光從黑暗裡照出來的神，已經照在我們心裡，叫我們得知神榮耀的光顯在耶穌基督的面上。” （林後4:6）

D.  耶穌基督是生命之光

最後，我們的主對祂自己有如下的啟示：

“耶穌又對眾人說：「我是世界的光。跟從我的，就不在黑暗裡走，必要得著生命的光。” 約翰福音8:12）。

 生命之光就是耶穌基督，在哥林多前書15:45如此告示我們：



“ 經上也是這樣記著說，首先的人亞當成了有靈的活人，末後的亞當成了叫人活的靈。”

因此，我們可以得出以下信念：整體的現實的真相是，遠遠超過我們在這個物質世界所看到的。它包括地上和天上的東西。它包括暫時和永恆的東西。我們的造物主，用靈魂和身體，創造了我們。為了使我們的生命，能在整體的真相中更充實，我們需要生命之光--我們的主耶穌基督。但願他是我們的至寶，但願我們每天經由信靠祂、和服從他，來時時刻刻在我們的生活中來讚美祂。

Our Lord Jesus Christ knows man very well because He created mankind and knows what in man. Two thousand years ago, our Lord came to this earth which was also created by Him and for Him.  He came to His own, but His own people did not receive Him. 

This was indeed the saddest thing that could happen to His people. You may wonder what kind of blessings that His people may receive from Him. We may legitimately ask Jews at that time, if we could, what seek ye? What else could you folks do in the world that your Creator cannot bless you over a million more times better than what you try to get yourselves.

Actually, there was another story told by the Holy Scripture as well concerning what seek ye. This time, it was recorded in the Gospel of John 1:35-39. Two of John the Baptist's disciples followed Jesus after they heard their teacher John the Baptist pointing out that Jesus is the Lamb of God. And the Scripture tells us in John 1:38...

"And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" And they said to Him, "Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are you staying?"

First of all, if we are lucky enough that Jesus asks us "What do you seek?" I wonder what will be our answers. We can say that we seek wealth? or we seek health? or pleasure or revenge, or justice, peace, joy; from our personal wishes to God's glory; and thousands of other possible answers. What is your answer?

Come to think of it. This Jesus' question can apply to all of us.  What you seek in this life and what you seek in this world are the key questions in your life. The answer to the question "What seek ye" will drive many of your effort in your life indeed.

Interesting enough, the two John's disciples answered this way. The Bible indicates that they seek after Jesus.  Ths is indeed worthy of our soul searching effort. What is your answer would be!

And Jesus said to them "Come and you will see" They came therefore and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.  Now the tenth hour is 4 p.m. by Jewish time.

Now, what is the results of their staying with Him that day. "We have found the Messiah which translated means Christ." (John 1:41)

"What seek ye"-- We need to answer this question indeed.

The following are  a few reminders from the Holy Scripture on this topic;



Topic G: 你們尋求什麼？

我們的主耶穌基督，非常了解人類；因為他創造了人，並了解人裹面是什麼。兩千年前，我們的主來到這個他創建、且為他而建的地球。他來到自己的地方，但自己的人卻沒有接待一他。

這的確是，對屬於他的人民所能發生的事情中最悲哀的事情。你可能想知道屬他的人民，若接待祂，可以從他那裡、得到什麼樣的祝福呢？。如果我們可以的話，我們可以合理地、詢問那個時候的猶太人，你們要什麼？創造者對你們的祝福最少会超過你們能力所及的幾百萬倍以上，你們這些人還能為自己做什麼更好的事呢？

其實，聖經還有一個關於“你們要什麼”的故事。這一次，它被記錄在約翰福音1﹕35-39。施洗約翰的兩個門徒，聽到他們的老師、施洗約翰指出耶穌是上帝的羔羊後，跟從耶穌。聖經在約翰福音1:38 這樣告訴我們…

“耶穌轉過身來，看見他們跟著，就問他們說：「你們要什麼？」他們說：「拉比，在哪裡住？」（「拉比」翻出來就是「夫子」。）”（約翰福音1:38 ）

首先，如果我們足夠幸運，耶穌問我們“你們要什麼呢？”，我不知道我們的答案會是什麼。我們可以說，我們要財富？我們要健康嗎？或快樂或報復、正義、和平、喜樂；從我們個人的願望到增加神的榮耀，以及成千上萬的其他可能的答案。你的答案是什麼呢？

 總而言之，這耶穌的問題，可以適用於我們所有的人。你在此生尋求什麼和你在這個世界上尋求什麼，是在你生命中的關鍵問題。這個“你們要什麼”問題的答案：將確實地、影響你的生命中許多拼命做事的緣由。

有趣的是，約翰的門徒這樣回答。聖經指出，他們選擇追隨耶穌。這的確是值得我們刻骨銘心的追尋。你的答案是什麼！

  耶穌對他們說：“你們來看”。因此，他們就去看祂在那裏住，這一天他們便與他同住，那時約有申正了。申正按猶太時間是下午4點。

他們與耶穌同住一天的結果。“我們遇見彌賽亞了！”（「彌賽亞」翻出來就是「基督」。）（約翰福音1:41）

“你們要什麼”–我們確實要好好回答此一問題。

以下是聖經一些關於這一主題的提醒;

馬太福音6:31-33

³¹ 所以，不要憂慮說吃什麼、喝什麼、穿什麼。 ³² 這都是外邦人所求的。你們需用的這一切東西，你們的天父是知道的。 ³³ 你們要先求他的國和他的義，這些東西都要加給你們了。 

約翰福音6:63

⁶³ 叫人活著的乃是靈，肉體是無益的。我對你們所說的話就是靈，就是生命。 

約翰福音11:25-26

²⁵ 耶穌對她說：「復活在我，生命也在我。信我的人，雖然死了，也必復活； ²⁶ 凡活著信我的人必永遠不死。你信這話嗎？」

如果你曾經是一位教師；你知道你的學生問你一個問題時，會期待你給一個正確的答案。所以，如果你問你的學生一個問題，他們回答了，並問你另一個問題；他們預期你是知道答案的。如果我們用這個原則，那麼你也很清楚，只有造物主可以問這個問題：“你們要什麼”；因為只有耶穌能回答、任何人可以問的任何問題；因為他是全能的，無所不知的。事實上，他就是我們的造物主和我們的主。

Topic H--What Christians seek?

After posting the “what ye seek” article in the web site, perhaps it is fair to ask the question of “what Christians seek”. It is interesting to point out that people seek different things based upon their needs and their life views. For example, many children love candies and many college students seek the completion of their degrees. In answering an important question like this, we are not looking into what my view or your view on this. Rather, we need to go back to the Bible to see what it says on the subject matter.

What is a Christian

A Christian is a Jesus Christ follower and believes in Him as his/her Lord and Savior. Someone may ask what do you means by believing in Him? We as Christian believe in His Name. That is, a Christian believes in Who Jesus Christ is and What is His Office as revealed in the Holy Scripture. In other words, a Christian believes in what the Bible reveals about His Person and His Work.

For the purpose of answering the question at hand, the Bible reminds us the following concerning what Christians are;

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Galatians 5:24

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 6:14

But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Simply put, Christians are those who live in this world but do not belong to this world. We do not pursue the glories of men of the world because we are united with Jesus Christ and pursue Him as our utmost treasure. Given this life view on this corrupt world, we seek His kingdom and His Righteousness.

What We Seek

Being a Christian, one is seeking Jesus Christ and grows to conform to the image of God’s only begotten son just as the Bible reminds us;

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; (Romans 8:29)

This means to have the same attitude as our Lord as indicated in the following verse.

Philippians 2:5

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

Thus, in addition to seek vertical fellowship with God, Christians also seek peace with our neighbors horizontally. As a matter of fact, our Lord commissioned us to spread the Gospel entreating people to be reconciled with God through His Son Jesus Christ so that they may have eternal lives.

Matthew 28:18-20

¹⁸ And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in
heaven and on earth. ¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Eternal versus Temporal

Christians seek things in this world that are ever lasting. You may ask what are they? Before we mention the eternal things, it may be worthwhile to say what are not of eternal values. The Bible teaches us that at the end God will do away with this corrupt world and the contaminated earth. The Bible reminds us the following;

Colossians 3:5

⁵ Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

1 John 2:16-17

¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. ¹⁷ The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

Thus, sexual immorality, commercial greed, judicial injustice, industrial pollution, media manipulation, religious deception, and political power corruption are evil and are not of eternal value. You may say “Wow! That pretty much covers the world systems”. Actually,we should not be surprised on this as the Scripture told us that our Lord’s kingdom is not of this world.

John 18:36

³⁶ Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.”

Indeed, the Bible reminds the following concerning eternal things: The Faith, the Hope, theLove, the Righteous, the Peace, the Joy, and the Word are all of God and hence eternal.

1 Corinthians 13:13

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Romans 14:17

¹⁷ for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and
joy in the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 119:89

⁸⁹ Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

1 Timothy 6:17-19

¹⁷ Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their
hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. ¹⁸ Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, ¹⁹ storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

Topic H--基督徒尋求什麼呢？

看了網站上一“你們尋求什麼?”的文章後；也許也可思考“基督徒尋求什麼?”的問題。有趣的是，人們是根據他們的需要和人生觀、追求不同的東西。例如，孩子們喜歡糖果和大學生尋求完成其學位。在回答這樣一個重要的問題時，我們不能看你、我的觀點；我們需要回到聖經，看看聖經告訴我們関於這題材的教導。

 什麼是基督徒？

基督徒是耶穌基督的跟隨者和相信祂是他/她的主及救主。可能有人會問，什麼是相信祂？作為基督徒，我們相信祂的名。也就是說，基督徒是相信從聖經所啟示的耶穌和祂的職位。換句話說，一個基督徒相信聖經所啟示、關於祂的位格和衪的工作。

讓我們從聖經有關基督徒的啟示；來回答手上這個問題：

“我已經與基督同釘十字架，現在活著的不再是我，乃是基督在我裡面活著。並且我如今在肉身活著，是因信神的兒子而活，他是愛我，為我捨己。”（加拉太書2:20）

“凡屬基督耶穌的人，是已經把肉體連肉體的邪情私慾同釘在十字架上了。”（加拉太書5:24）

“但我斷不以別的誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架。因這十字架，就我而論，世界已經釘在十字架上；就世界而論，我已經釘在十字架上。”（加拉太書6:14）

 “所以弟兄們，我以神的慈悲勸你們，將身體獻上，當做活祭，是聖潔的，是神所喜悅的，你們如此侍奉乃是理所當然的。
²不要效法這個世界，只要心意更新而變化，叫你們察驗何為神的善良、純全、可喜悅的旨意。”（羅馬書12:1-2）

 簡單地說，基督徒是生活在這個世界上，但不屬於這個世界。我們不追求這個世界屬於人的榮耀，我們是與耶穌基督結合、且追求衪作為我們最大的寶藏。生活在這個腐敗的世界，我們尋求祂的國和祂的義。

我們尋求什麼

作為一個基督徒，是要尋求耶穌基督和來成長符合上帝的獨生子的身量，就像聖經提醒我們; “對於那些他預知，他也注定成為符合他的兒子的形象，使他在許多弟兄中作長子”（羅馬書8:29） 

這是說我們要以基督的心為心，在下面的聖經節中、也一樣的告訴我們：

 “ 你們當以基督耶穌的心為心。”（腓立比書2:5）

因此，除了尋求與神垂直的相交；基督徒尋求與我們的鄰居有和睦的水平關係。事實上，我們的主委託我們去傳福音，懇求提醒人們、通過他的兒子耶穌基督來與上帝和好、因而可以有永恆的生命。

  “耶穌進前來，對他們說：「天上地下所有的權柄都賜給我了。所以你們要去，使萬民做我的門徒，奉父、子、聖靈的名給他們施洗，凡我所吩咐你們的，都教訓他們遵守。我就常與你們同在，直到世界的末了。」”（馬太福音
28:18-20）

永恆與短暫

基督徒尋求在這個世界上永恆的事物。你可能會問，那是什麼呢？我們提及到永恆的事物之前，要先來看什麼是沒有永恆價值的事物。聖經教導我們，上帝最終要清除此敗壞的世界和受污染的地球。聖經以下經文提醒我們：

 “所以要治死你們在地上的肢體，就如淫亂、汙穢、邪情、惡慾和貪婪，貪婪就與拜偶像一樣。”（ 歌羅西書3:5）

 “因為凡世界上的事，就像肉體的情慾、眼目的情慾並今生的驕傲，都不是從父來的，乃是從世界來的。 ¹⁷ 這世界和其上的情慾都要過去，唯獨遵行神旨意的，是永遠常存。”（約翰一書2:16-17）

因此，淫亂苟合、商業貪婪、司法不公、工業污染、操縱媒體、宗教欺騙、政治權力腐敗都是邪惡的，是沒有永恆的價值。你可能會說：“哇！這幾乎涵蓋了整個世界的體系“。事實上，我們不應該對此感到驚訝；因為我們的主親自告訴過我們，祂的國不屬這世界。 


 

 “耶穌回答說：「我的國不屬這世界。我的國若屬這世界，我的臣僕必要爭戰，使我不至於被交給猶太人。只是我的國不屬這世界。」”（約翰福音18:36）

事實上，聖經提醒下列永恆的東西：屬於上帝的信仰，希望，愛，公義，和平，喜樂，和上帝的話，因此是永恆的。

“如今常存的有信、有望、有愛這三樣，其中最大的是愛。”（哥林多前書13:13）

“因為神的國不在乎吃喝，只在乎公義、和平並聖靈中的喜樂。”（羅馬書14:17）

“耶和華啊，你的話安定在天，直到永遠。”（詩篇119:89）

“你要囑咐那些今世富足的人，不要自高，也不要倚靠無定的錢財，只要倚靠那厚賜百物給我們享受的神。¹⁸ 又要囑咐他們行善，在好事上富足，甘心施捨，樂意供給人，
¹⁹ 為自己積成美好的根基，預備將來，叫他們持定那真正的生命。”（提摩太前書6:17-19）

Long time ago in learning the high school mathematics, infinity was defined indirectly as where two parallel lines intersect. What does that means, nobody knows. How can two parallel lines intersect? It is impossible because it contradicts the common understanding of the parallel lines. So what is infinity?

很久以前，在學習高中數學時；無限的間接定義、為兩條平行線相交處；這意味著沒有人知道那是何處。兩條平行線會相交？這是不可能的；因為它違背了一般所瞭解的平行線。那麼，什麼是無限？

It seems that a better way of understanding infinity is that it is beyond finiteness. So many things which are impossible in a finite situation may be possible in an infinite setting. Another way of expressing infinity mathematically is a number divided by zero.  For example, it is called infinity if 1.0 is divided by zero. But what does it mean? Certainly, it is good to know that infinity may be beyond a finite being’s comprehension.

如果無限被解釋為超越有限，這似乎是一個好的方法來瞭解無限。很多事情，在有限的情況中、是不可能；但在一個無限的狀況中、是可能的。另一方法就是用數學表示無限；那就是用0(零)去除一個數字等於無限。例如 1/0=無限。然而、一個數目除以零又是什麼意思呢？因此，我們可以說，能夠認為無限、可能是超出有限人所能了解的。

This is indeed very relevant in understanding our own finiteness and hence shall humble ourselves in our ignorance and empty boastings. Let us give an example, an ant tries to understand a man’s thought.  Just ask yourself, how would an ant understand what are in your mind. Now if an ant says that men do not exist because men cannot be seen by the eyes of an ant clearly. What do you think?

能了解我們自己的有限性，的確是非常適切地；我們因此能謙卑自己，不要不學無術和空口吹噓。讓我們舉個例子，一隻螞蟻試圖、了解一個人的思想。問問你自己，一隻螞蟻怎麼會明白、你的心中在想什麼。現在，如果一隻螞蟻說，人類是不存在的、因為螞蟻的眼睛不能清楚地看到人類；你會怎麼想？

We know by revelations in the Bible that God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.  We have no experience as to what omnipresent, or omniscient, or omnipotent means. However, based upon our understanding of God's creation, we can get a certain sense of the vastness and greatness of God's divine attributes and power.   For example, the distance between stars is measured by light years, and we know that the observable universe is measured by hundreds of billions of light years. Although we can not fully comprehend what the sizes of galaxies in our day to day experience, we can understand that the universe is too big to comprehend and the One created such a vastness of space and stars are even harder to comprehend or should we say it is indeed beyond our comprehension.

我們知道，在“聖經”的啟示；上帝是無所不在、無所不知、無所不能。我們沒有經驗去瞭解無所不在、無所不知、無所不能的意義。但是經由瞭解上帝的創造，我們能夠意識到上帝神的屬性及力量的浩瀚與偉大。例如，星座之間的距離是以光年來衡量；而我們所能觀測到的宇宙是以數千億光年來衡量。雖然從我們日復一日的生活經驗，無法真正明白星雲的大小；我們知道宇宙是大到無法瞭解。我們是更難能理會能創造如此浩瀚空間與星球的創始者，也就是說這確實超越我們的理解力了。

Since our thought and understanding are shaped by our experience in a finite life, we are often deceived by thinking God as one of us. We are finite and God is infinite. For example, God is eternal and we are temporal. God is everywhere at all the time and we are at one place at a time only.  God can see past, present, and future all in just one look.  You may ask how could that be possible? Actually, we can understand a bit of this by looking into the geometry.

由於我們的思想和理解，會被我們在有限的生命有的經驗塑造；我們常誤以為上帝跟我們一樣，為我們中的一員。然而我們是有限的，上帝是無限的。例如，上帝是永恆的、我們是短暫的。上帝在所有的時空裡，是無所不在；我們是在一個時間，只在一個地方。上帝是一眼就可瞧見過去、現在和未來。你可能會問那怎麼可能？其實，我們透過幾何學，就可以理解這一點。

An one dimensional time line represents thousands upon thousands of the past, present and future events in one dimensional space-time. Now for one dimensional beings, they can only experience one point in that line at a time. So they cannot see their future because it has not yet arrived. Now for us living in a higher dimensional space-time, we can see the one-dimensional line of past, present, and future at one look.

一個一度空間的時間縱軸，代表存在於一度空間的時間縱軸之過去、現在和將來的千千萬萬個事件。存在於一度空間的生命體，他們只能一次、經歷此時間縱軸之一個點。因此，他們不能看到自己的未來，因為它尚未到達。現在，我們生活在一個更多度的空間-時間裡，我們可以一眼看到一度空間的時間縱軸的過去，現在和未來。

So why talk about infinite versus finite? Because it help us understand our limitations and bring us onto obedience to the Scripture teaching. Just list a few limitations for those who are diehards for human glory.

•  Do you see any of the human historical “heroes”?
•  Do you see anybody still living who is say 200 years old.  If not, where are they today?
•  With science and medicine, do you see that life is created by the substances created by men?
•  Does anybody know the future and warrant the future outcome?

那麼，為什麼談論無限與有限？因為它幫助我們了解我們的限制，並讓我們服從“聖經” 的教導。對於那些堅信人定勝天理性為王的頑固分子，特地列舉了一些限制。

It is interesting to know that if God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent; then from the implications of infinity, there is only one God. How can it be otherwise! Funny things are that humans like to boast, but the human race  cannot even eliminate a simple cold and need to rely on our created  immune system to fight it off. Enough are said. Here are a few reminders from the Holy Scripture:

知道上帝是無所不在、無所不知、無所不能是件很重要的事。從無限的涵義來看，也只有一位無限的上帝。不可能有其他的﹗好玩的是人類喜愛競相吹噓，但人類甚至不能消除一個簡單的感冒，只能依靠我們的免疫系統來對抗它。已說了很多，這裡有一些“聖經”的提醒：

Romans 1:19-21   because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.    For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.   For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

羅馬書1:19-21 神的事情人所能知道的，原顯明在人心裡，因為神已經給他們顯明。  自從造天地以來，神的永能和神性是明明可知的，雖是眼不能見，但藉著所造之物就可以曉得，叫人無可推諉。  因為他們雖然知道神，卻不當做神榮耀他，也不感謝他，他們的思念變為虛妄，無知的心就昏暗了。

1 Corinthians 1:20-21 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

哥林多前書1:20-21 智慧人在哪裡？文士在哪裡？這世上的辯士在哪裡？神豈不是叫這世上的智慧變成愚拙嗎？  世人憑自己的智慧既不認識神，神就樂意用人所當做愚拙的道理，拯救那些信的人，這就是神的智慧了。

Isaiah 45:20-23    “Gather yourselves and come;Draw near together, you fugitives of the nations;They have no knowledge,Who carry about their wooden idolAnd pray to a god who cannot save.   “Declare and set forth your case;Indeed, let them consult together.Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it?Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior;There is none except Me.   “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.   “I have sworn by Myself,The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back,That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5  “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

申 命 記 6:4-5 以 色 列 阿 ， 你 要 聽 ！ 耶 和 華 ─ 我 們 神 是 獨 一 的 主 。 你 要 盡 心 、 盡 性 、 盡 力 愛 耶 和 華 ─ 你 的 神 。的 主 。

Romans 11:33-36   Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!  For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?  Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

羅馬書11:33-36 深哉，神豐富的智慧和知識！他的判斷何其難測，他的蹤跡何其難尋！  「誰知道主的心，誰做過他的謀士呢？  誰是先給了他，使他後來償還呢？」  因為萬有都是本於他，倚靠他，歸於他。願榮耀歸給他，直到永遠！阿們。


It is indeed quite amazing that God, who is eternal, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, and infinite, would ever seek people. Since we are finite, corrupt, and temporal, it is impossible for us to comprehend infinite, let alone infinite living forever God. The only way that we can know God is for God to give revelations about His divine attributes and power to us. It is indeed awesome to receive His teaching as revealed in the Holy Scripture due to His Love and Grace onto the human race.

The Bible revealed that God created the heavens and the earth and every plants and creatures in it including humans. When He created Adam and Eve, our ancestors, He created them in His image. Per Genesis2:7, “Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”. That is, Adam has a spirit that can fellowship with God. You may ask what does it mean that we were created in His image. Genesis 1:26 gives us more light on this. “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness………”. 

Furthermore, Ephesians 4: 24 reminds us that we were created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.  It is indeed a great consolation to us that we can share with the divine natures after we were cleansed from our corruptions by our precious Lord Jesus Christ who died and shed His blood to cleanse us  from our sins. 

Why God created man

Rev 21: 3-5 reminds us that God likes to dwell among man

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

But more relevantly, God loves His only begotten Son and wants to give Him a Bride—The church which was redeemed by His Son our Lord’s precious blood.

“ Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”   It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” (Rev 19:7-8)

What kind of persons are saved to become His children

The Holy Scripture reminds us that not many of us who were saved are wise, mighty, and noble because God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things that are strong. As a matter of fact, the angel did not announce the great tiding of the birth of Christ to the powerful high priest of the Jewish religious establishment, nor to the elite class of Pharisees; Rather to the poor shepherds who take care of their sheep at night in the field.

The Scripture tells us that, regardless of your blood line, your talents, your position, your power, and your resources, and your deeds, whosoever believes in the  Lord Jesus Christ is born of God and is a child of God. According to John 3:16-18, the Bible reminds us the following:

  “For God so loved the world,  that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Many people like to blame on God on many things. But in all cases, God is righteous and every one, who comes to Jesus Christ and receives Him, will be saved because the Bible promises so.

^“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.   He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.    But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, ” (John 1:10-12)

What kind of servants and maids God is looking for to serve Him

It is very clear in the Bible that God does not use the world’s corrupt standards in selecting His servants and maids. It is indeed very interesting to note our Lord’s statement in John 14:30-31, our Lord acted according to His Father’s commends not according to the world’s standards of inheritance, power, beauty, riches, talents, and positions, etc.

^“ I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;  but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.” 

So what kind of people our Lord calls to be His servants and maids; those who trust Him; those who are humble before Him; those who are loyal to Him; and those who loves Him.(See for example, 1 Cor 4:1-2)

What God seeks for His worshipers

It is our Lord’s revelation that Father seeks the following people to worship Him;

^“ But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers” (John 4:23)

Our Lord further explains why it is so.

^“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)

" It is written, ' YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.' " (see Luke 4:8)

TOPIC J   神尋求什麼樣的崇拜者

這的確是令人驚奇的事；永恆的，無所不在，無所不知，無所不能的，和無限的的上帝，會要尋找人們。由於我們是有限的，腐敗的和時間上短暫存活的；我們無法理解無限，更不用說能了解 永遠無限存在的上帝。我們只有、從上帝經由祂的啟示オ能知道祂的神性和力量，才能瞭解上帝。這的確是多麼奇妙，能從聖經所透露出祂給人類的愛和恩典中，我們得到了他的教導。

聖經告訴我們，上帝創造了天地萬物和每一個植物和包括人類在內的生物。當祂創造了我們的祖先亞當和夏娃，祂依祂的形象創造了他們。跟據創世記2:7,"然後耶和華神用地上的塵土造人，將生氣吹在他鼻孔裡，他就成了有靈的活人"。也就是說，亞當有靈性，能與神相交。你可能會問這是什麼意思，我們是依他的形象創造。創世記1:26為我們提供了更多指引。

 神說：「我們要照著我們的形象，按著我們的樣式造人…. 」。(創世記1:26)

以弗所書4：24也這樣提醒我們，我們是建立在真理的仁義和聖潔上。在我們寶貴的主耶穌基督、用替死流血，來洗淨我們的罪後；從腐敗中被潔淨的我們、仍能夠分享神性，這確實是一個很大的安慰。

為什麼上帝創造了人

啟示錄 21:3-5提醒我們，上帝喜歡與人同住。

3 我聽見有大聲音從寶座出來說：「看哪，神的帳幕在人間！他要與人同住，他們要做他的子民，神要親自與他們同在，做他們的神。4 神要擦去他們一切的眼淚，不再有死亡，也不再有悲哀、哭號、疼痛，因為以前的事都過去了。」5 坐寶座的說：「看哪，我將一切都更新了！」又說：「你要寫上，因這些話是可信的，是真實的。」(啟示錄 21:3-5)

但更貼切的說，上帝愛他的獨生子，想給他一個新娘，那就是由祂的兒子、我們主的寶血贖回的教會。

7 「我們要歡喜快樂，將榮耀歸給他，因為羔羊婚娶的時候到了，新婦也自己預備好了， 8 就蒙恩得穿光明潔白的細麻衣。」這細麻衣就是聖徒所行的義。(啟示錄 19:7-8)

什麼樣的人能被拯救成為祂的子民

聖經提醒我們，我們中沒有多少人是因為明智，強大，高貴而被救贖；因為上帝已經選擇了世上的弱者來羞辱強者。事實上，天使沒有將基督誕生的大福音、告訴猶太教的有權勢的大祭司及法利賽人的精英階層；而是報佳音給晚上在野外、照顧他們羊群的貧窮牧羊人。

聖經告訴我們，不管你的血統、你的天賦、你的地位、你的力量、你的資源、你的事蹟；不管是誰、凡相信主耶穌基督就是神生的，就是上帝的孩子；根據約翰福音3:16-18，聖經提醒我們以下幾點：

16 「神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的不致滅亡，反得永生。 17 因為神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪[a]，乃是要叫世人因他得救。 18 信他的人不被定罪，不信的人罪已經定了，因為他不信神獨生子的名」。(約翰福音 3:16-18) 

很多人喜歡、在許多事情上責怪於上帝。但是在所有情況下，神是公義的；每一個來主耶穌面前、接受祂的人，將會被贖；因為聖經有如此的應許;

”10他在世界，世界也是藉著他造的，世界卻不認識他。11他到自己的地方來，自己的人倒不接待他。12凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄做神的兒女。”(約翰福音 1:10-12)

神在尋找什麼樣的僕人和使女來服侍他

在聖經中這是非常清楚的，上帝不使用腐敗世界的標準、來選擇他的僕人和使女。這確實是很值得注意的；我們的主在約翰福音14:30-31表示，祂是按照祂父親的吩咐而行；而不是根據世界的繼承、權力、美貌、財富、才華、和位置等的標準而行。

「30以後我不再和你們多說話，因為這世界的王將到；他在我裡面是毫無所有，31但要叫世人知道我愛父，並且父怎樣吩咐我，我就怎樣行。起來，我們走吧！」。(約翰福音 14:30-31)

那麼什麼樣的人、會被我們的主徵召、成為祂的僕人和使女？就是那些信任祂的人、在祂面前謙卑、忠於祂的人、愛祂的人。（例子，如林前4:1-2）

神尋求什麼樣的崇拜者

這是我們的主的啟示，父要這樣的人崇拜他;

“23 時候將到，如今就是了，那真正拜父的，要用心靈和誠實拜他，因為父要這樣的人拜他。” （約翰福音4:23）

我們的主又進一步的解釋了為什麼是如此。

“24神是靈，所以拜他的必須用心靈和誠實拜他。”（約翰福音4:24）

耶 穌 說 ： 經 上 記 著 說 ： 當 拜 主 ─ 你 的 神 ， 單 要 事 奉 他 。(路 加 福 音 4:8)

Do you ever wonder why only a few remnants are saved by God. We know by the revelation of God in the Holy Scripture that God is merciful and almighty and capable of saving the entire human race. But why only a few were saved.

Perhaps by looking around this world, we can get a sense of why this happens even in our days. Only remnants are saved becaust many people are deceived by the world and can not see the true light. You may ask why? I believe that instead of giving various reasons or speculations of ours, a better way is to look for what the Bible tells us.

In the first chapter of the Gospel of John, the Bible tells us the following with regarding to the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:4-5)

The First Reason

So we may say that first reason that only remnants are saved is due to ignorance in living in the darkness of this world. We may further ask why people do not like light and rather like darkness. Actually, our Lord provided us with the answer as indicated in John 3:19-21 :

“And this is the judgement, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, less his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God”

So it is clear that many people did not get saved because they love the darkness. But this is very sad indeed. To be saved means that a person will receive an eternal life and will no longer have anything to do with death at all in eternal life. The Bible clearly teaches us that the death reigns in this world because of sin. This is where the ignorance kills and the pride damns a person. We know that everyone tries so hard to see a doctor or a surgeon to get a cure from one’s dreadful diseases. We do not have to convince anyone to be cured from a dreadful disease, do we? Why? It is indeed so because we assume all along in each day of our lives that we are going to live forever. Of course, you would quickly comment that this assumption is not rational and not according to human experience. Yet, still so many people hold on to this ignorance and pursue things such as materials, power, fame, riches, lust, and pride as if their lives have no end in sight. But the Bible also says that he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.

There is a very vivid demonstration of this love of the darkness in the Bible story of Lot’s wife as recorded in Genesis chapter 19. 

In a crooked and perverse generation, there are people who can argue on anything and on everything as if their lives have no ends to them. And there are many people who reject willfully God’s mercies to save them and always blame God for why God does not save them. The funny thing is that they do not like eternal life and yet keep going to doctors to cure their diseases.

The Bible also tells us another side of the sad fact that only remnants were saved. According to chapter 1 in Romans, Apostle Paul told us the following;

Romans 1:19-21

¹⁹ because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. ²⁰ For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. ²¹ For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

The Second Reason

So the second reason that only remnants are saved  because the "eyes" of the  hearts of many people are blocked by the Devil through the deceptions of this world and thus their minds are  darkened. Of course, a darkened heart always produce fruitless arguments which go nowhere. In other words, their eyes are blinded by the deceptions of the Devil so they cannot see the true light of the gospel of Jesus Christ to save them. This is indeed very sad. They think that they can be gods through their rationalism or deeds or secret means. But the real reason is that their foolish hearts were darkened and so they bought into the Devil’s deceptive systems and lost in the process as well

So why only the remnants were saved? Please listen carefully to what our Lord teaches us in the Bible;

Matthew 7:13-14

¹³ “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. ¹⁴ For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Let those who have ears listen to what the Holy Spirit tells the Church. And if you are a truth seeker and seeking eternal life, please look into what the Bible teaches on the truth that will enlighten your heart to see the light of Jesus Christ to guide you onto the narrow gate of the eternal life.

Actually, seeking eternal life is not that hard with Jesus Christ.  If you seek eternal life, you need to come to the Lord  of eternal life Jesus Christ who can bless you with eternal life through your faith in Him. It is not that hard just your trust in Him. Amen.

Topic K --  為什麼只有餘數被救贖?

你有沒有想過，為什麼只有餘數被神拯救?。從聖經的啟示，我們知道，上帝是仁慈的，全能的上帝。衪有能力救贖整個人類。但是，為什麼只有餘數被救贖。

當環顧這個世界，我們可以感受到，為什麼即使在今天這個時代，還會出現這種情況。只有餘數得救是因為很多人被世界所騙不能看到真光。您可能會問為什麼？我相信，縱使提供各種原因或我們的猜測，不如更好的方式，就是看“聖經”告訴我們什麼。

在約翰福音第一章，聖經告訴我們以下有關我們的主耶穌基督的第一次降臨、來到人間：

 “生命在他裡頭，這生命就是人的光。光照在黑暗裡，黑暗卻不接受光“（約翰福音1:4-5）

第一個原因

因此，我們可以說，第一個原因是，因為無知、很多人生活在黑暗中，。我們可以進一步問，為什麼人們不喜歡光，而喜歡黑暗。其實，我們的主、在約翰福音3:19-21，為我們提供了如下的答案：

“光來到世間，世人因自己的行為是惡的，不愛光倒愛黑暗，定他們的罪就是在此。凡作惡的便恨光，並不來就光，恐怕他的行為受責備；但行真理的必來就光，要顯明他所行的是靠神而行。“（約翰福音3:19-21）

所以很顯然，很多人沒被救贖，因為他們喜歡在黑暗中而不願意接受光。但是，這確實是很可悲的。靠信耶穌得救贖是指一個人會得到永恆的生命；在這永恆的生命中將不再與死亡有任何關聯。聖經清楚地告訴我們，因為罪、死亡才主宰、籠罩這個世界。這就是所謂無知及驕傲，會殺死和毀滅一個人。我們知道，每個人都努力、試圖看醫生或外科醫生來治愈其可怕的疾病。我們不必說服任何人、去看醫生來治愈可怕的疾病；不是嗎？為什麼呢？因為我們內心一直認定、我們將會永遠、每一天活着。當然，你會很快評論說，這種認定是不合理性的，與人類的經驗不符合。然而，仍然有這麼多的人、持有這種無知，因而持續地追求物質、權力、名利、財富、慾望和驕傲；就好像他們的生命，在可見的將來、是不會結束的樣子。

然而，聖經也告訴我們，但行真理的必來就光，要顯明他所行的是靠神而行。

在創世記“第19章”中，有一個聖經故事；非常生動地描述了、羅得的妻子對黑暗的愛。

在這彎曲、悖謬的世代，驕傲的人可以對任何事情及他們的生命沒有盡頭的事，作辯解。有很多人，故意拒絕神的憐憫、來拯救他們；而總是埋怨上帝、為什麼不來拯救他們。有趣的是，他們不喜歡永恆的生命，卻一再尋求醫生來、要治愈他們的疾病。

聖經也告訴我們，只有餘數得到救贖，使徒保羅在羅馬書1章，告訴這可悲事實的另一面。

 “神的事情人所能知道的，原顯明在人心裡，因為神已經給他們顯明。自從造天地以來，神的永能和神性是明明可知的，雖是眼不能見，但藉著所造之物就可以曉得，叫人無可推諉。因為他們雖然知道神，卻不當做神榮耀他，也不感謝他，他們的思念變為虛妄，無知的心就昏暗了。”（羅馬書1:19-21）

第二個原因

 “你們要進窄門。因為引到滅亡，那門是寬的，路是大的，進去的人也多；引到永生，那門是窄的，路是小的，找著的人也少。”（馬太福音7:13-14）

讓那些有耳者，聆聽聖靈告訴教會的。如果你是一個真理尋求者、永生的追求者，請看“聖經”告訴我們的真理，啟發你的心，能看到了耶穌基督榮耀的福音，來引導你到永生的窄門

其實，追求永生只要來到永生的主耶穌相信衪、因信稱義就可得到的。願聽眾朋友趕緊信靠耶穌得永生。

You might wonder why we talk about this topic. Actually, this issue is so important that it may affect our eternal lives. We are living in a highly technological modern era of the 21th century. You may wonder why talk about flesh and spirit. Before we talk about this topic. Let examine a few facts about status of the technology and history of our civilization:

你可能會問，為什麼我們要談論這個題目。事實上，這是個非常重要的話題，因為它可能會影響我們的永恆生命。我們生活在21世紀、高度技術化的世代裡，你可能想知道，為什麼要談論肉身與靈性的理由。在我們談論這個話題之前，讓我們審視、有關現代化的歷史和科技的幾個事實：

1. With so much advancement of the medical science, we still can not eliminate common colds, let alone curing cancers or immortal life extension.

2. With thousands of experts in spinning the truth by numerous rationalization schemes, our world is still so chaotic and hopeless in conflicts. After two world wars and numerous regional conflicts in last 100 years, the theory of evolution that we are evolving into better species and more advanced civilization is indeed a joke.

3. There are millions of people died in the processes of various social experiments of various political ideologies in human history. We can still see this tragedy happening today in this world.

4. After a modern liberal giant Nietzsche’s declaration that God was dead, it is certain that the world is not better off due to Nietzsche’s theory. On the contrary, it is certain that Nietzsche was dead  and returned to dust, but God is still busy in redeeming His people

1.有著如此進步的醫學，我們仍然不能消除感冒，更別說治癒癌症或讓生命延長不朽。

2.有著成千上萬的專家，用眾多理性主義的框架、編織出一套自以為是的真理；我們的世界、依然是陷在如此混亂和絕望的衝突中。過去100年裡，我們經過兩次世界大戰和許多地區性衝突；告訴我們正在演化成更好的品種、更先進的文明的進化論，確實是一個笑話。

3.有數百萬人在人類歷史上，在各種政治意識形態的許多社會實驗過程中死亡。我們仍然可以看到這樣的悲劇、發生在當今的世界。

4.在現代自由大師尼采、宣告上帝死了之後；可以肯定的是，世界並沒有因尼采的理論而變得更好。相反，可以肯定的是尼采是死了，並且回歸塵土,  然而上帝仍舊繼續在挽救他的子民。

Given these sad facts of human rationalism, we need to go back to the Holy Scripture to find an answer about the truth of our life in this world.

有了這些、人類理性主義的可悲事實，我們必須回到聖經尋找、我們生命的真理、在這個世界的答案。

In the Bible, there is an interesting story concerning a Jewish teacher Nicodemus who went to visit Jesus Christ recorded in John 3:1-13 quoted below:

John 3:1-13 
The New Birth
3 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” 9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

We have at least several observations on these verses.
1. Unless one is born again, one cannot discern any spiritual things.
2. Unless we believe in Jesus Christ, we cannot see the kingdom of God, let alone entering into the kingdom of Jesus Christ our Lord.
3. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

從這些經文，我們至少有下列的觀察。
1.一個人若不重生，是不能分辨任何靈層面的東西。
2.除非我們相信耶穌基督，我們無法看到神的國，更別說進入我們的主耶穌基督的國度。
3.從肉身生的就是肉身，從靈生的就是靈。

Before we comment on the topic of this article, we would like to discuss a few background information for those who are not familiar with the Bible.

A. When God created Adam and Eve in Genesis, mankind was created with flesh and spirit. 

Genesis 2:7

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

It is noted here that breathing of life into Adam, he became a person with spirit and hence a living being.
In John 6:63, our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us that life is given by the Holy Spirit.
John 6:63
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

B. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, sin entered the world. Adam and Eve died a spiritual death when they sinned.  Their descendants who are we, are of flesh only because our spiritual being is dead unless we are born again by the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:1-5

2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

Now back to our topic ”flesh versus spirit”, a few observations are worthy of our meditation:

(1). Flesh begets flesh. This reflects what is this world about. The Bible describes the situation of this world very accurately. 

1 John 2:16
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

(2). Works of the flesh

Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

(3) That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
If we are born again, we are Christians. In a sense, the Holy Spirit created us again in the following sense as told by the Scripture.

Ephesians 4:20-24
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

(4) Fruit of the Spirit: It should be noted that the fruit of the Spirit is worked out in us by the in-dwelling Spirit. It is not due to our effort so we should not boast if we exhibit such fruit.

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

(5) What happened in our Sanctification?

Galatians 5:17
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 

Why we have this struggle? Because our body is not yet redeemed as indicated in Romans 8:22-24.
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

That is why in Romans Chapter 8, the Bible shows us the path of life to be in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 8:1-2 Free from Indwelling Sin
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

(6) That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Romans 8:5-8
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God

; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

(7) The Holy Spirit dwells in believers and sanctifies us believers:
In our daily pilgrimage, the Holy Spirit will lead us in our Sanctification process.
Romans 8:9-11
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

現在回到我們的主題“肉身與靈性”，下列一些觀察是值得我們沉思的：​

(1) 肉體生肉體。這反映出目前的世界。聖經描述著這個世界的、所有有關的情況。
約翰一書2:16
16因為凡世界上的事，就像肉體的情慾、眼目的情慾並今生的驕傲，都不是從父來的，乃是從世界來的。

(2) 肉體的事

加拉太書5：19-21

19情慾的事都是顯而易見的，就如姦淫、汙穢、邪蕩、20拜偶像、邪術、仇恨、爭競、忌恨、惱怒、結黨、紛爭、異端、21嫉妒、兇殺、醉酒、荒宴等類。我從前告訴你們，現在又告訴你們：行這樣事的人必不能承受神的國。

(3) 從靈生的，就是靈。

如果我們重生，我們就是基督徒。從某種意義上說，聖靈再次創造了我們；如下面的經文所述。

以弗所書4：20-24
20你們學了基督，卻不是這樣。21如果你們聽過他的道，領了他的教，學了他的真理，22就要脫去你們從前行為上的舊人，這舊人是因私慾的迷惑漸漸變壞的；23又要將你們的心志改換一新，24並且穿上新人，這新人是照著神的形象造的，有真理的仁義和聖潔。

(4) 聖靈的果實：應該指出的是，我們的聖靈果子、是由內住我們的聖靈所成就來的。不是由於我們努力的成果；所以我們如能表現出這樣的果實，我們是不能誇耀的。

加拉太書5：22-23

22聖靈所結的果子，就是仁愛、喜樂、和平、忍耐、恩慈、良善、信實、23溫柔、節制；這樣的事沒有律法禁止。

(5) 在我們的成聖過程中，發生了什麼？

加拉太書5:17

17因為情慾和聖靈相爭，聖靈和情慾相爭，這兩個是彼此相敵，使你們不能做所願意做的。

為什麼我們有這樣的掙扎？因為我們的身體還沒有被贖回。如羅馬書 8：22-24所示。

22我們知道，一切受造之物一同嘆息、勞苦，直到如今。23不但如此，就是我們這有聖靈初結果子的，也是自己心裡嘆息，等候得著兒子的名分，乃是我們的身體得贖。24我們得救是在乎盼望。只是所見的盼望不是盼望。誰還盼望他所見的呢?

這就是為什麼在羅馬書8章，聖經向我們展示了生命的道路、是在我們的主耶穌基督裡。

羅馬書 8：1-2 

8如今，那些在基督耶穌裡的就不定罪了。 2因為賜生命聖靈的律在基督耶穌裡釋放了我，使我脫離罪和死的律了。

(6) 從肉身生的就是肉身，從靈生的就是靈。

羅馬書 8：5-8

5因為隨從肉體的人，體貼肉體的事；隨從聖靈的人，體貼聖靈的事。6體貼肉體的就是死，體貼聖靈的乃是生命、平安。7原來體貼肉體的就是與神為仇，因為不服神的律法，也是不能服；8而且屬肉體的人不能得神的喜歡。

(7) 聖靈內住在信徒，讓信徒成聖：

在我們日常的朝聖之旅，聖靈將帶領我們成聖的過程。

羅馬書 8：9-11

9如果神的靈住在你們心裡，你們就不屬肉體，乃屬聖靈了。人若沒有基督的靈，就不是屬基督的。10基督若在你們心裡，身體就因罪而死，心靈卻因義而活。11然而叫耶穌從死裡復活者的靈若住在你們心裡，那叫基督耶穌從死裡復活的，也必藉著住在你們心裡的聖靈，使你們必死的身體又活過來。

Concluding Remarks.

Flesh begets flesh. That born of the Spirit is spirit. What a priceless blessing that God the Holy Spirit dwells in us to lead us in our sanctification process to guarantee our salvation. The Bible clearly says this in Romans 8:28-30.

Romans 8:28-30

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Praises be to our Lord Jesus Christ for His priceless promise in the Upper Room discourse (during His last evening in this world before going to the cross to complete His redemption work) of sending another Comforter-the Holy Spirit to each of  of us in the church age. 

John 14:16-17
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

One of the purpose of indwelling Holy Spirit within us is to sanctify us to be equipped to worship our great God and to serve our Lord Jesus Christ to continue His earthly ministry through His church empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Listen to what the Bible teaches in Romans 12:1-2.

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Furthermore, follow our Lord’s encouragement:
John 15:7-8
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

If you are not yet a Christian, May our Lord Jesus Christ’s light shinning in your heart  today so that you will be able to hear His call and follow Him, 

Luke 9:23-26
Take Up the Cross and Follow Him
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.

If you are a Christian, may you dedicate yourself again to know Him and to serve Him with all your heart, your mind, and your strength.

Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom
15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

May we deeply love our Lord Jesus Christ, may we listen to Holy Spirit in pursuing the holiness of our God , and may we give honor and praises to our Father in heaven. We pray this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

從肉身生的就是肉身。從靈生的就有靈性。上帝派遣聖靈住在我們裡面，帶領我們過成聖的過程，以保證我們的救贖，這真是無價的祝福。聖經在羅馬書8：28-30，清楚地述說。

約翰福音 14:16-17

16「我要求父，父就另外賜給你們一位保惠師，叫他永遠與你們同在，17就是真理的聖靈，乃世人不能接受的，因為不見他，也不認識他。你們卻認識他，因他常與你們同在，也要在你們裡面。

聖靈內住我們的目的之一是，讓我們成聖、才能敬拜我們偉大的神，才能侍奉我們的主耶穌基督；通過聖靈授與能力的教會，繼續祂在地上的事工。

讓我們聽聖經在羅馬書 12：1-2 的教導

羅馬書12：1-2

獻己於主當做活祭

12所以弟兄們，我以神的慈悲勸你們，將身體獻上，當做活祭，是聖潔的，是神所喜悅的，你們如此侍奉乃是理所當然的。 2不要效法這個世界，只要心意更新而變化，叫你們察驗何為神的善良、純全、可喜悅的旨意。

此外，跟隨我們主的鼓勵：

約翰福音15：7-8

7你們若常在我裡面，我的話也常在你們裡面，凡你們所願意的，祈求，就給你們成就。8你們多結果子，我父就因此得榮耀，你們也就是我的門徒了。

如果您還不是基督徒，祈望今天我們的主耶穌基督的光芒、照耀你的內心；讓你可以聽到、祂的呼召並跟從主。

路加福音9：23-26

當背十架跟從主

23耶穌又對眾人說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，天天背起他的十字架來跟從我。24因為凡要救自己生命的，必喪掉生命；凡為我喪掉生命的，必救了生命。25人若賺得全世界，卻喪了自己、賠上自己，有什麼益處呢？26凡把我和我的道當做可恥的，人子在自己的榮耀裡，並天父與聖天使的榮耀裡降臨的時候，也要把那人當做可恥的。

我們神是獨一的主

There is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.(See 1 Coringthians 8:6)

主耶穌榮耀無比的十字架

神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不至滅亡，反得永生。 因為神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪，乃是要叫世人因他得救。 信他的人，不被定罪；不信的人，罪已經定了，因為他不信神獨生子的名。

Obedience to God is much better than offering sacrifices - Hos 6:6

我喜愛良善（或譯：憐恤），

不喜愛祭祀；

喜愛認識神，勝於燔祭。

For I delight in loyalty 

 rather than sacrifice. 

And in the knowledge of

The righteous shall live by faith alone - Habbakuk 2:4

Self-denial and be patient in enduring afflictions are the God's ways for us in following Jesus Christ our Lord - Matthew 16:24

Goal of Redemption is in Sanctification of the Spirit, through Obedience to Jesus Christ, and be Holy to the LORD. Be Ye Holy, For I am Holy.
