Observation of Space (Observables and Invisibles)
I.  Look at Bigger Stuff
When we take a look at the environment that we live in, the sky seems to be very very  large, particularly with numbers of stars we can see. However, we really do not know the extent of it until the invention of telescope and until various scientific discoveries telling us that the universe is too large to be comprehended. The universe is measured by  a unit called a light-year, which is the distance traveling by light in a year. Some data indicate that the radius of the observable universe is around 46 billion light-years. By comparison, the sun light travels just 500 second to reach the earth. So it is easily to conclude that the universe is too large to observe completely. We do not know how far how big more beyond the observable universe. As a human being, we are indeed quite ignorant about the universe and its billions, billions of galaxies, and stars. Do you know what the Bible says about the stars. Isaiah 40:26,
“26 Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things,
Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.”

II.  Look at Smaller Stuff
Until the invention of electronic microscope, we can not see anything beyond what our eyes can detect. Even today, we cannot “see” subatomic particles and beyond. Although there are many theories and hypothesis, our knowledge on very very small stuff is as ignorant as the big stuff. Yet, we are wonder why some people are so ignorant that they become arrogant about anything!

II.

III. Physical World and Beyond
Physical world consists of observables and unobservables. Just because we can not observe does not means that they do not exist. Invisible means that it is beyond the detection of our physical senses. Just because that we can not detect by our physical senses do not means that they do not exist in the environment we live in. It is indeed clear that the more we are aware of our limitations the more we should be humble and should not be ignorantly arrogant to be a fool!

This is why we urge the truth seekers to seek the Creator as revealed in the Holy Bible!

III.

Observation of Time

From our life’s perspectives, observation of time may be divided into three parts. Part 1 deals with the past events. Part 2 deals with the present and Part 3 deals with the future.

I. The Past
This portion can be further divided into two categories. Category 1 deals with past events occurred in our lives which already occurred. The events which happened in our lives and in our world during our lives belong to this Category. Category 2 deals with events recorded in history prior to our lives.

Through our observation and through historical records, couple things are clear:
Time arrow points in one direction only. Past is past. We cannot reverse sequence of the past events.
Once the events past, they were gone. However, effects of past events may stay for sometime and may affect future events. In other words, the collective paths (i.e.,  world history, country history, and cultural history) could not be altered. Similarly, our individual life path once occurred is fixed. It is very important that we all take our lives seriously so that our lives consisted of many happy and healthy and righteous memories and less regrets and sadnesses.

I. 過去

II    The Present
One thing is clear, all people were created equal as far as time is concerned. We all have a 24-hour day. How one spent one’s days on will determine one’s life quality and future path. The past is past and the future does not yet arrive. The only thing that we can contribute is the present! This is why the Bible teaches us the following examples:

A. Ephesians 5:15-21 Walk in Wisdom,  15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
B. 2 Corinthians 9:6-9 The Cheerful Giver,  6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 9 As it is written:
“He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.”

II.

III. The Future
Since the future is yet to come, we should keep our hope up and keep our faith strong. We are thankful that tomorrow is another day we can try to live meaningfully to witness the gospel to the world. 2 Corinthians 9:10-15, 10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, 13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, 14 and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

III.

Observation of Conflicts Among Men

One of the things happened in our generation is that evils rampage. The first thing we observe is that we are in conflicts. All human needs are the same, i.e., food, clothes, housing, transportation needs, nurturing needs, and recreational needs. There are many people in this world are in poverty, in poor health, and in homelessness. Some are even currently under prosecution and war zones.

Although there are lots of people but the problems are not resources but maldistribution due to men’s corrupt nature. Thus, basic issues of mankind are of the nature of man and hence we are in spiritual warfares.  However, the corruption of the human’s nature was due to sins introduced into the world by the deception of  Adam and Eve by the devil. The devil was a created archangel by God. Unfortunately, the devil rebelled due to his greed and pride against God. The following are a few verses explaining this observation:

1. In the beginning, God created a perfect world including Adam and Eve —                   Genesis 1:31; 2:1-2,  31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. 2 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
2. Sin entered the world through Adam due to the deception by the devil Romans 5:12, Death in Adam, Life in Christ, 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
3. Corruptions of the human natures such as all the evil deeds came from the corrupted world 1 John 2:15-17, Do Not Love the World, 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Since all the conflicts among people ultimately come from corruptions of human nature such as sex, power, and money grabs, the most fundamental issue is the rebellion against our Creator. Since the world has been usurped by the prince of air (the devil), human beings cannot fix their problems as demonstrated through history unless we repent to solve the spiritual issues.

Someone may blame God to allow injustice situations of the world. But Scripture clearly indicates that it is the grace period extended to allow the return of repented sinners back to God. 2 Peter 3:9, 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance

Time is of essence. This is the grace period before God’d promise final judgement of sending the wicked to eternal fire in the Hell.

Down and Out
When we are down and out and forsaken by friends and kindreds, we are more likely to earnestly seek God to save us. When I feel strong and capable, I will be on the pride of my life and hence  will run away from God. What a huge mistake that is! When we are really gung hole in loving this world, we will have a distorted view about our ourselves and the love of God will certainly not in our hearts.
Only humble persons will see how sinful and wicked that our hearts could be! Those who love God are blessed because they truly know that they cann’t trust themselves and that they need God every moment of their lives.
This is the Beatitudes taught by our precious Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:3-12
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

************************************************************************************************************

What Seek Ye?
In the gospel of John, our Lord Jesus Christ asked two followers of Him this question:
John 1:38, Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?”
In the current Covid-19 pandemic very stressful days, indeed this is a very relevant question for all who are stressed, confused, and longing for a peaceful mind.

So what do we seek or what do you seek from Jesus Christ the world Savior? As a matter of fact, this has been an essential question for all the mankind? Are you seeking for riches, fame, and power? Are you going after the lust of eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life? Are you pursuing peace, happiness, and health?  Does eternal life is the one we are after?
Indeed, in this information overflowing era of the internet, people are easily be confused and misled by so many fake news and messages from various sources with hidden motives. It is indeed with great beneficial to each of us to think about, and meditate this great question from Jesus Christ our Lord, “What seek ye?”

The following are an example of a few Bible verses for our meditation :
* John 1:1-4, The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

* John 1:9-14,
9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The Word Becomes Flesh
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

* Mark 8:35-36,
35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

* Acts 4:11-12,
11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

* Romans 10: 9-10,
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

* Ephesians 2:8-9,
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

* 1 Corinthians 1:28-30,
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—

* 羅馬書 10:9-10

Observation of Information and Technology

The industrial revolution of late 18th century introduced machines and automation in our society. The revolution of information and communication in 20th century changes how we receive information and internet commerce. We are indeed in the age of information overflow. However, we also face the problems of discernment regarding the truthfulness of the information on various platform including news media.

The corruption of human nature causes the conflicts among various value and political systems. Historically, we observe the conflicts between rich and poor, between kings and subjects, between various social classes, etc. We can summarize them as conflicts between light and dark, or righteous and evil.

Control of information distribution to the mass and control of communication platforms have been the main areas of conflicts among various powers in the world. Nowadays, various communication platforms  were developed by technical giants. Thus, technical elites have the power of controlling types of information available to the public through their technologies. We should never under-estimate the tremendous power of such control on the societies we live in.

To some extent, control of communication platform and data one can access amount to the control of one’s mind. Hidden value systems and agenda can be part of the mind control to bias the popular viewpoints and opinions. Hence, it is the individual’s duty to make sure what kind of bias and hidden agenda underlined the news or information available to him/her. It is extremely difficult to discern fake news or mixed data. Therefore, Christians! be watchful always!

One of the best dicernment is to compare the policies and executive actions with the biblical teaching. It is not what they say but what they do. Watch out for the wolves in lamb skin and the demons pretending to be angels.

Reminders... 提醒

Only God - See Deut 6:4-5
Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Glorious Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ which demonstrates the love of God - John 3:16-18

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of Go

Obedience to God is much better than offering sacrifices - Hos 6:6

不喜愛祭祀;

For I delight in loyalty
 rather than sacrifice.
And in the knowledge of
God rather than burnt
offerings.

(Hos 6:6)

The righteous shall live by faith alone - Habbakuk 2:4

Self-denial and be patient in enduring afflictions are the God's ways for us in following Jesus Christ our Lord - Matthew 16:24

Goal of Redemption is in Sanctification of the Spirit, through Obedience to Jesus Christ, and be Holy to the LORD. Be Ye Holy, For I am Holy.

(1 Peter 1:15-16; Lev 11:45)
