In this webpage, we give a few good references that we found to be very beneficial for our own spiritual growth. In  our days of apostasy, the Bible is rejected by the mainstream media. If christians are not watchful, we will certainly be deceived by the hidden anti-Bible, anti-Christ agenda and fake news.

There are many bible commentaries. One of the commentaries that we found particularly useful for our days is “ Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee”.  This is a 5-book set which gives a verse-by-verse commentary. Dr. McGee went to our Lord  for some years but his radio ministry is still going on. We find this set very sound in doctrines.  For applications, Dr. McGee gave very clear explanation about how to live a meaningful christian life and why studying the Bible is so essential in gaining the knowledge of God and  of Jesus Christ our Lord. As an example, he indicated that ,in commenting 2 Peter 1:19,  the Word of God is the only tangible supernatural thing that we have in this world today. The Word of God is the only physical miracle that we have from God in this hour in which we live.

We are particularly impressive by the McGee’s commentary because it presents the Bible verses in a clear explanation with many day to day examples. For example, Dr. McGee indicated in commenting 2 Peter 1:20, that no portion of the Scripture is to be interpreted apart from other references to the same subject in the Bible. That is, we cannot take one verse to build a doctrine on that verse alone. In other words, we need to study the whole Bible. In this way, we are not deceived by many cults which built their  individual ideologies with one or two verses in the Bible.

“Holy in Christ” by Andrew Murray.
This book is an old classic published in 1887. This book has 31 chapters covering 31 different aspects of  the holiness subject. It also covers both Old Testament and New Testament concerning the holiness subject. On the subject of “Holiness”, this book ranks one of the best in my limited book library. And I personally benefited greatly from reading this classic book and hence will recommend it to our readers without reservation.

“The Holiness of God” by RC Sproul
This is a newer book on the subject of holiness published in 1985. It has 11 chapters covering various topic of the subject from contemporary perspectives. This book comments on the struggle stories with holiness of various biblical and reformation era figures such as Isaiah, Augustine, Jacob, Jobs, Habakkuk, and Martin Luther. It offers in-depth views of RC Sproul on this subject. RC Sproul has the talent in presenting and explaining a spiritual matter in a clear and profound way without using various technical jargons to wear a reader down. Through the years by listening to his radio messages, I have noted that RC Sproul is indeed one of a few great teachers of our time. If you can read English language, I would highly recommend this book to you. ​
The Holiness of God is so important to our spiritual life that we need a very special teacher to guide us to understand this immense truth.
