Reminder from a pastor...

(約翰福音4:10)                                                                       Concerning the Word of Life-                                                                                    Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” (John 4:10)

Now is the acceptable time. Today if you will hear His voice.  **************************************************************************************************

A Christian is a person who believes in Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and Lord. But not all Christians continue to pursue diligently to know Him and to have a lively fellowship with Him each and every day of their lives. Do you really know that as a Christian you lost unspeakable joy and great blessing if you do not have fellowship with the all loving Lord of yours each day!

First of all, you should know eternal life was granted to each Christian from God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord when we first believed. However, do you know that eternal life is not a thing, or an object that God give to me outside of me and outside of God. You may ask what do you means by that. This is indeed a great question.

Let us see what the Bible says.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Do you know what this verse so plainly says?  God gave His Son to each believer so that every Christian has eternal life. Do you know why? Because eternal life is in His Son. Eternal life is not a thing outside of you like an object that can be passed from hands to hands. It is in God’s Son. That is why the following scriptures are so precious:
John 1:4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
1 John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Since eternal life is in Jesus Christ, we possess eternal life by being inside Christ. That is why our Lord Jesus Christ taught us so vividly in the the following lesson in John 15:1-8.
The Vine and the Branches:
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

So eternal life is not an object you can receive outside of yourself, eternal life is in the person Jesus Christ. We can even say Jesus Christ is eternal life. Thus, we need to be in Him. Next obvious question is how can any believer be in Christ.

Let us listen to our Lord who loves us, each of His, to the end.

John 15:9-10:
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

May we truly love Him and obey His commandments and love each other for His glory!

Cherish

In a confusing and disarraying political environment, ordinary people are wondering when the politicians are going to wake up to work on issues important to ordinary folks such as job, security, and medical insurance. To Christians, chaos in education system, anti-bible culture, and violence tendency cause great concerns to our society’s  prosperity and stability.

Looking at what happens across the world, it would appear that our society needs to return to our Creator to get assurance about where are we going? The Bible tells us there are no new things under the sun. This means that the problems we face are not new and were manifested in the human history many times in the past.

One of the key issues is  that  a self-center, me-me-but-me attitude has permeated our cultures completely. Tolerance is just a popular political correct talk, not truly reflecting in basic courtesy towards each other in daily life. We do not need more pundits’ empty arguments or politicians’ political correct empty promises.

Can we do something now to improve our sanity and our quality of life? There is one thing we can all do to benefit all. That is to take an attitude of “cherishing”. You may ask “Cherish what?”.

Cherish anything and everything around you. Let  us take a few examples;

To start with, how about cherishing someone close to you such as your love ones. This means using kind words toward them and appreciate them.

珍惜你周圍的任何和一切的人、事、物。我們舉幾個例子;

How about cherishing any kindness extended to us in our day to day encounters. You may say that most of people treating me harshly. If so, it will even nicer to extend thanks to a few good folks that treat us fairly.

Cherish our opportunity and good fortune to survive each day. In this regard, it may be good to share some quality time in the evening with some one we love, particularly, our kids.

Life is full of conflicts. Our societies are all very busy. How about cherishing our life today and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or hot water ourself to appreciate others that help us today!

I think that we got the picture. An attitude of cherishing will help us handle numerous encounters  with others in a day and will make our lives more enjoyable to us. Just remember the arrow of time can not be reversed. Let us cherish some “good fortunes” we have such as people, relationships, etc, before we lose them.

As Christians, we need to cherish our Creator, our Redeemer, and our God who loves us to the end. We need to cherish our Lord Jesus Christ in whom is the source of life and  the grantor of our eternal life. As Christians, we need to love our neighbors as ourselves. Who are our neighbors? Are not they the people we encounter in our lives?

May your life be enriched by this attitude of “cherishing” in your daily living.  The following are a few reminders from the Scripture for our edification and enjoyment:

1 Peter 2:4-7

4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God,

5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

6 For this is contained in Scripture:

“Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone,
And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve,

“The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the very corner stone,

B. 1 John 2:5, “ but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.”

C. James 1:27, “27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.”

D. 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18, “15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. 16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

First of all, what is free will. Free will means to live according to individual’s will. To live means to deal with all matters related with life. So what is wrong with free will. Actually, there is nothing inherently wrong with free will because free will was part of God’s creation on all animal world including human being. However, when the free wills of individuals cause conflicts, then peaceful living becomes impossible for the world. So in order to keep peace, free wills of individuals are subject to societal laws. Furthermore, our Creator also sets the boundary for human free wills. In other word, mankind need to listen to God’s commandments.

We all know what it will become in a lawlessness society. In that society, evils of wicked men will rampage just as there is no justice for all in a  dictatorship regime. You may ask where the evil begins? Evil began when  a human being puts his/her will above the commandments of God. In other word just as Romans 1: 18-23 clearly state that evil began when men do not recognize God as God and elevated himself/herself as god in rebelling against their Creator.

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

If you looks at the world carefully, you can see clearly that free wills of evil men and women are main causes for all the problems of the world. Here are a few examples:

1. crimes are committed by criminals in their wills against societal laws.
2. all wars are due to conflicts caused by  a country’s will against another country’s will.
3. divorce comes from conflicts of wills between husband and wife.

We do not need any more examples. Just look at the conflicts in Middle East  and it will show you clearly the effects of evil wills. Since men have not be able to live peacefully throughout the human history, conflicts will remain with us in our age as well. You may ask what should we do then? We do need to return to our Creator. This means that we need to be taught by His truth as revealed by His word in the Bible. One thing we can do right away to improve our lives is to be aware of "how we exercise our wills". Just to admit the limitation of our will will be a great start in improving our relationship with others in our midst. More importantly we need to obey God’s commandments as revealed in the Bible. That is why our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to deny ourselves and follow Him.

Matthew 16:24
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

That is why He preached repentance in Matthew 4:17
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

May we all hear the call of Jesus Christ: Repent! Deny ourselves and follow Him.

In Christ

As a Christian, we need to know who we are, where we stand in this world, what is our purpose in life, what is our mission,  where we are going, and who is our true strength. It is indeed mouthful to ask so many questions. But do you truly understand each of the above questions.

It is indeed a great blessing to be a Christian because we are blessed  without bounds to be children of  the Creator and Almighty God. The world does not conform to the biblical standard. In other words, the world does not know God and Jesus Christ sent by Him to save the lost. Thus, the world hates Jesus Christ and also Christians. That is why we are taught  in John 16:33,

" 33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

Today, we know that Christians in some regions of the world are under severe prosecutions including cruelties, beheadings, discriminations, and evictions from home. Indeed, waves of refugees in the Middle East region testify to this grave situation. So all Christians should know that the world hates Jesus Christ and the world hates all Christians

Just as our Lord  instructed us in John 16:33 our way of peace is to be in Christ in dealing with the world. Of course, we need to know what in Christ means in practical living. In order to be in Christ, we need to know who He is and What He did and how much He loves us. To be in Christ is not by our feeling or our fancies but is of our faith. As you know, our faith in Christ has its contents of believing Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Scripture. This faith is handed down throughout  history from saints going back to the apostles  who were eye-witnesses of our Lord.

Just remember this truth and we need to contemplate it everyday—“ These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world”.  May all of us abide by our Lord teaching and His love all the days of our lives in this wicked world! Please read the Gospel of John; Chapters 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 if you are confused or in doubt of understanding the questions posed in the first sentence of this article. May our merciful Lord bless us to serve Him joyfully and faithfully in our lives. In Jesus precious Name we pray, Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ’s Teaching on life eternal

We all know that we are living in a postmodernism world which advocates relative truths and fake news bent by hidden narratives. In a world which is anti-Christ and anti-Bible, the believers of Jesus Christ shall understand what are the teachings of our Savior and Lord. The importance of this understanding can not be overemphasized because it is the Truth that sets us free. You may ask “ Set us free from what?”. Indeed, this is a great question. First of all, Truth sets us free from the falsehood of the world and  the schemes of the Deceiver Devil. More importantly, it sets us free from corruptions. It is important to note that the cost of corruptions are incalculable because it could cost our lives!

1. Life is the issue
So first thing first. If there was no life, nothing else matters. This is the mother of all issues of the world including everything from all-isms, wars, religions, jobs, marriage, feeding of  the poor, global commerce, politics, sex, drugs, power, welfare, education, sin, evil, death, righteourness, law, judgement, etc. Extension of life through any means (medicine or otherwise) has been the main undertaking of the human race since the beginning of time. Even in this modern world, amount of effort in seeking cures of illnesses is beyond comprehension.

Our Lord reminds us in Mark 8:36-37
36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Thus, before one loses oneself in all other issues such as any “isms” or movements. First, make sure that we settle the issue of life!

2. Finding a right path to life eternal in a postmodernism world is not an easy thing at all. Why?

    (a) 2 Corinthians 4:4
4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Just understanding what happens in the world about fake news and alternative truth in the main stream media and seeing how the pundits spin any issues in TV commentaries will give you a great answer. Christians should know how many times that we were misled by the world! Beware of “ who are your enemies?”

    (b) Our Lord teaches us in Matthew 7:13-14,
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

3.  What is the way to eternal life?
    (a) The Bible reveals this light in a dark world.
John 14:6-7
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

    (b) Believe in Jesus Christ is how we receive eternal life.
John 3:35-36
35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

(c) God shows us His Love for you and me
John 3:16-18
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

4. What is eternal life and How can we enjoy it right now!
Please take it to our hearts dearly on our Lord’s teaching;
John 17:3
3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

我們的心裡;

May all of us see through all the fake news and alternative truth and find the narrow gate leading to life eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord. May each of us know God and Jesus Christ whom He have sent to save us and to commission us to do His work! In Jesus precious name, we pray.  Amen.

A Happy New Year Greeting for 2017                  2017 新年快樂

****************************************************************************************************************

As we entered 2017, it appears that the world is as uncertain as the years before. Because of evils, the world is full of violence and chaos. Living in this world, we need to return to the Bible teachings.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us in Matthews 7:13-14, 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

This teaching reveals the truth about our living in this post-modernism era. There are indeed two living styles in this world; one is living yourself as you wish without God and the other is living under the guidance of the Bible. All the chaos could be understood per Matthews 7: 13-14. Living without God is indeed perilous as God will judge all of us in the end to uphold His Righteousness and Justice.

The Wise and Foolish Builders

For Christians, we are instructed by our Lord Jesus Christ to build our life’s foundation on Him alone as taught in Matthews 7:24-27
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
How true this teaching is!

Do Not Worry

Furthermore, our Lord also teaches us we need to trust Him alone instead of trusting the world.
Matthews 6: 24-34
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Seeking first His Kingdom and His Righteousness First

May 2017 find us  seeking first His Kingdom and His Righteousness. May our lives reveal His teachings in  extending His kindness to all our  family members, our friends, and our neighbors.

Reflection on 2016 回顧2016年

We are at the last few weeks of the year 2016. It is time to reflect on the year 2016. Globally, the world is as chaotic as ever and there was no peace in the Middle East region of the world. Regionally, we continue to have terrorist bombings and killings of innocent people. Individually, we added one year to our lives and each of us has different path this year. Hopefully, each of us can have joyful holidays with our loved ones during the year Christmas period.

Some of us would reflect on the year from the viewpoint of accomplishment. A few of us would just hustle ahead without noticing the passing of the year. Others would be grateful that we enjoyed our healthy living for one more year.

In a postmodernism culture of 21 century, many may think why bother to reflect a passing year. I personally do not like this view because there is Almighty God who gives all of us all the infrastructures necessary to have joyful and meaningful life. We therefore need to recognize sovereignty of God first and then we reflect our lives which He gives to each of us.

In an information explosion era with internet communication, we would not clutter your precious time and mind. So we would reflect on year 2016 with the view of “quality of life”. There is a common core of “quality of life” that is common to all: quality of health, quality of time, and quality of environment/relationship. Underlining all of these quality of life core values is your faith. You may ask what do you means by  “faith” . Faith is your  very summary of everything. For example, for a christian, his/her life is governed in every details by placing his/her trust in Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Scripture. People all have faith. Even atheist has his/her faith of himself/herself.

As we then reflect on the year 2016, did the year offered us the time and space and infrastructural fortunes that we used to improve quality of our lives and others? For seniors, quality of life is indeed a great issue which may require other’s assistance to maintain it. Many people, young and old and between, are fearful of the chaotic and unpredictable world events happened in 2016. On a personal basis, it is more important to take care of things closer to home than the world events that we can do nothing about. Thus, we would reflect on 2016 as follows from a christian’s perspective:

1. Counting the blessings we received in 2016— If you do not know how to count the blessings, start count the blessings in your health. People do not count the blessings they received because they have the wrong attitude of entitlement on your health. We can all take for granted that our teeth would not hurt until our dentist warned us to frost and clean our teeth daily. Similarly, do not entitle your health that we do nothing to maintain it from daily food intake to good health habit including exercise. So look at other infrastructural requirement on other things of your live and start counting the blessings from your personal savior Jesus Christ your Lord.

2. Quality of your time in 2016— How you utilized your time reflects the strength of your faith. One way of judging quality of your time is to review what are the areas/events/things/recreations that you have invested your precious time. We  all know that money is precious because we only have limited amount of money. But few people ever think of their time as more precious than money because our time is even more limited and we really do not know if next month or next year belongs to us. One way to improve quality of your time for any christians is to study the Bible to reflect on Jesus Christ (i.e., His Person, His Office, His Mission given by His Father, His unbounded Love and how/where we are in His Life)

3. Quality of your investment in 2016— According to the Bible, all lives have meaning and purpose. For christians, each and every one of us were elected by our Lord Jesus Christ and commissioned to do His assignments in this world which hates Him. So a fair question to reflect on 2016 is where did we invest our resources in 2016. Did we ever consider His Kingdom and His Righteousness first?
Actually, there is a promise offered by God that if we do so, He would bless us with all our infrastructural needs to carry out His assignment to us individually and collectively. Quality of your investment would include quality of your relationship with your God, your relationship with your brothers and sisters in faith, as well as quality of relationship with your loved ones and your neighbors.

May our Lord Jesus Christ ,who is the only mediator between Holy God and sinful men to sanctify us, be praised and adored and worshiped every day in the coming 2017. May our God who is all in all be gracious to all of us in 2017. In Jesus precious Name we pray Amen.

***************************************************************  Trace of Time and Grace of God

There is a general saying that time passes without compassion. Cold fact of time is that the arrow of time is always forward and cannot be reversed. This is clearly demonstrated in human history. We would like to comment on trace of time in serval examples.

First, there are many ruins in the world which clearly indicate the passing of great ancient civilizations or dynasties.  Examples are many including Pyramids in Egypt,  Great Wall in China, Sanctuary of Aphaia in Greece, and many other ruins which show ancient glories in the past. All those cultural artifacts display the trace of passing time in human history.

Secondly, our lives are also displaying the trace of time. Like ruins of the ancient civilizations, our bodies also show the effects of time of various deterioration of our bodily functions.

Physicists told us that the chaos of a system will increase as time passes unless  more energy is added to it. This situation was codified as the Second Law of Thermodynamics. In other word, chaos and death are unavoidable in this sinful and perverted world.

This is indeed the fundamental issue facing all mankind today and throughout human history. Many people seem to accept the aging process and evil of this world as a matter of life and just keep on going as best as they can. If we accept the evolution theory, then indeed we are doomed because there is no way out; no matter how hard we try through any means including medical research, self righteousness, and rationalization. If we believe in Christian creationism that God created us, some may ask why God permits this to happen. But if we study the Bible, we know that this was not so in the beginning. The world was created perfect and there was no death. Sin entered the world through Adam’s rebellion against his Creator and hence death occurs to all his descendants because all sinned. One may also ask: should not God come to rescue us since we are his creation. He must have compassion to His creation. Indeed, He is almighty and full of compassion to mankind. Throughout human history, He sent prophets, times and again, to warn man to repent away from the world's wicked ways. Man never learns from history and continues his evil ways. Finally. God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be a propitiation through faith in Jesus' blood for anyone who would receive Him as the personal Savior.

If you are a keen observer of this world or as you grow old, you will deeply seek to find the Truth of this life and this world. We do not need philosophers or gurus to teach us. We all know that this is tied to the issue of eternal life.

Two thousand years ago, God sent His beloved Son Jesus Christ to this earth to show mankind the way to eternal life. His proclamation of Heavenly Kingdom in Galilee has  echoed in many hearts throughout last 2000 years including our era. Here are a few Scripture verses that may help those still struggling in the issue.

Matthew 4:15-17

15 The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.” * 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached particularly throughout the world in our age to anyone who wants to receive Him to obtain eternal life to escape the awful effect of the trace of time.

For those of us who are Christians, this was indeed the greatest gift from God to us who believe that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to save us. Not only  we can escape the grip of time in the future, but also  we can receive God grace in our time of needs.

For those of us who have a few or a lot of white hairs on our heads, we know by experience that life is full of uncertainties and afflictions as well. Just for this year(2016) alone, there are lots of tragedies including  Islam extremist terror attacks in Nice, France;  in Orlando, Florida; and in many places of the world. Put aside the terrorist attacks, life itself has enough difficulties and strifes that we truly need God’s grace to sustain us!

We therefore beseech you that Jesus Christ is indeed the great gift from God for anyone seeking very hard to escape the grip of the Second Law of Thermodynamics or the grip of Time. Please listen very carefully to Jesus proclamation on Heavenly Kingdom. Time is of essence to receive this great gift from Jesus Christ our Lord.

Meditate on the following John 1: 9-14:
9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

If you are one of those “ as-of-matter-of-fact” straight forward persons, then receive the following:
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

We sincerely hope that we shall all receive this True Light when it shines gracefully on us in this world darkened by sins and evils. May you be blessed  as the  psalmist proclaimed in this psalm:
Psalm 36:9      New King James Version (NKJV)

9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

Looking Forward in 2016                                                展望2016年

The 2016 is upon us. Many people take this opportunity in making new year resolutions to get a fresh start. This is all good. However, it is more beneficial to have right attitudes towards the new year.

From a Christian perspective, we should remind us the following:
1. One of the key problems in this world is the ungratefulness of the people towards their Creator. This is indeed the underlining cause of so much evils in this world which in turn cause tears and sufferings. Romans 1: 20-23 clearly warn us about this issue;

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not [a]honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

1.這個世界的關鍵問題之一,就是人們對他們的造物主的忘恩負義。這的確是種下了因,造成這個世界上這麼多的罪惡、導致淚水和痛苦的來源。羅馬書1:20-23 清楚地警告我們這個問題;

Even when God sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth to redeem mankind, people still refuse to accept Him and instead killed the Prince of Peace as recorded in the Bible.
John 1:9-13
9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

We Christians are the ones that accepted God’s Son Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and received Him to be our Lord in our hearts. This is indeed a greatest blessing towards each of us; giving us the faith of a great hope to receive our eternal life as promised in the Bible;
1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

我們基督徒是接受上帝的兒子耶穌基督為我們的救贖主,並接受祂是我們心中的主。這確實是給我們每個人的最大祝福;給我們一個很大的信心,能得到如在聖經所承諾的,我們永生的希望;

              彼得前書1:3-5

So what we should do in 2016 is to live each day of 2016 with thanksgiving and gratefulness. We all know that some of the 2016 days are going to be great. We need to thank our Lord for His guidances and provisions. Try to enjoy our blessings with gratefulness. All good things come from our Heavenly Father. When we feel that this is a good life, do humble ourselves before our Mighty God and express our thanks and love towards our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now what happen if some of our days of 2016 are frustrated, difficulties, and sufferings? Read 1 Peter because it was written to encourage the churches which were under prosecution and sufferings. We need to know what are the God’s promises to us and need to grip the hope tightly to His promises because we trust our Holy God who can not lie. In those dark days, we still need to thank our God for His protection and provisions to walk with us in time of needs.

2. We need to have joys of fellowship with our Lord. Our Lord Jesus Christ promised us that Holy Spirit will walk along us as His representative- a Comforter in-dwelling in our hearts- to reveal the glorious unsurpassed richness of Jesus Christ our Lord. That is why King David expressed so joyfully in Psalm 27:4.
One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.

God is Love and God is Almighty. That is why in the Upper Room discourse in the last evening before going to the cross to redeem us, our Lord promised to give us His peace in a perverted evil world. So in 2016, we should seek our Lord with all our heart, our mind, and our strength. He is indeed a fountain of spring that those who go to Him should not thirst. This fellowship is sweet and inspirational, and unceasing joys.

3. We should take heeds to avoid the snares and  fleshly traps of this world. Try to live Romans 12:1-2 everyday of 2016.
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

As the Bible tells us in 1 John 3:1-3, what a privilege and a unsurpassed blessing to be a Christian!
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

In Summary, we should remind ourselves the following for 2016;
1. Live one day at a time with thanksgiving and with steady faith for  our merciful Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Seek our Lord to know Him more and more for His unsurpassed riches and glory. Live each day with Him as preeminence in our daily life.
3. Have a keen understanding of the fleshly trappings of the perverted world. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ our Lord and He will free us from many useless wonderings of wasting our lives. We certainly need to learn self-denial in order to obtain more excellent and rewarding life. Always remember that our Lord teaches us in John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”
May 2016 is the year that we truly love our Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus precious name we pray . Amen.

綜上所述,在2016年、我們應該提醒自己以下各點;

An urgent warning in a chaotic world 亂世中的警語

John 16:7-11

7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [a]Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

9 為 罪 , 是 因 他 們 不 信 我 ;
10 為 義 , 是 因 我 往 父 那 裡 去 , 你 們 就 不 再 見 我 ;

When we drive over a road, we would like to have a road sign which warns us the coming road hazard condition. Similarly, in a modern living with so many competing conflicts, it is essential that we adhere to the warning messages to properly prepare for any potential dangerous situation. For example, tourists are warned to avoid the regions with ongoing arms conflicts.

According to the Holy Scripture, there is an end time coming that God will judge this perverted world.
In the end time, there will be wars, disorders, and very severe natural disasters that exceed those recorded in human history. Because of this warning, we at this website also want to alert you that evil things can not keep going without an end.

In a post modernism era like the one we live in, it appears that chaos prevail around the globe. It appears that wickedness rampages. All traditional societal values are questioned. Large social experiments are conducted with "everything goes" attitude and practice. Gender, religion, society order, marital system, and education are all subject to super chaotic experiments.  It is up to everybody to define truth,  justice, evil and good.

According to main stream media, God is dead and there is no absolute truth in this world. Liberal politicians may still want to present themselves as holding some traditional values. But their policies and practices clearly show them to be anti-biblical and they do not recognize God.

But this is What God says:

1. There are absolutes in this world
    Romans 1:20-21
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

God created this world. Order in universe, beauty in His creation, and the vastness of the universe all display His divine attributes. Of course, there are truths that are absolute. For example, the fact " you can recognize  at this moment that you exist " is an absolute. The fact that all human beings will die in this world is an absolute told by the Scripture in Romans 5:12
"12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned". You can test this truth yourself!

"Evils will end and judgment will surely come " is another absolute told by the Scripture:

Hebrews 9:27
27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,

27 按著定命,人人都有一死,死後且有審判;

2. Time is of essence for you to forsake the evil and wickedness in this world and accept the only human being savior Jesus Christ
Because of the horror of sin and its punishment, we plead with you to escape this very horrible judgment by accepting the gift of life from Jesus Christ because He died to pay the penalty of the sins of those who believe in Him. This is a tremendous grace from God:

  John 3:16
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Do it now tomorrow may not be yours!!

3. God is not dead.  God is Holy, Powerful, and indeed very Merciful and Compassionate to us humans. God is in control. All human history is indeed His story. Listen to God !!!

Revelation 1:8
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Isaiah 45:5
“I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me;

4. Dedicated Service

Romans 12:1-2

12 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Looking to the Infrastructural Things

"as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:18

In a post modernism world, it appears that everything goes because there is no absolute standard on anything. Coupled this trend with information overflow, no wonder we are puzzled with so many events occurring in our world today. The world seems going awry in a fast pace life and there is no shortage of evil rampages all over the world. A key objective of the website is to remind our readers to return to our Creator through the Bible to seek His purpose in our lives. As our Lord Jesus Christ declares His first coming into this world more than 2000 years ago in John 10:10 to give us an abundant life, we sincerely hope that you may receive an abundant life through Him as well.

John 10:10
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."

All of us may find it very beneficial to "slow down" once awhile in a fast pace world to reflect on our surrounding and our lives. We believe that listening to the Creator and His reminders should be a great rewarding way of obtaining light to live in this chaotic and darkened world.

John 12:35-36

35 So Jesus said to them, “For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.” These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.

Since we are in a mission of reminding all people regardless of race, gender, and nationality, it would be our great joy if you would route this website to your loved ones if you find the information herein beneficial or interesting to you.

Attached is a tree house picture to illustrate that infrastructural support is a very important part of any structure. Similarly, all good things come from our heavenly Father. Even each of our breaths is being sustained by our Lord Jesus Christ because

"For by Him all things are created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things and in Him all things hold together."  Colossians 1:16-17

附圖是一個樹屋圖片,用來說明結構內部的架構是對整結構體非常重要的部分。同樣,一切美好的事物是來自我們的天父。甚至每一個呼吸都需要我們的主耶穌基督的持;

The invisible part is an essential part of the reality. As a matter of fact, the hiddened structural support determines much of the functional characteristics of a structure.  With this in mind, it is very important for us not just put all our effort in the visible world but as the Scripture reminds us

"If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth."  Colossians 3:1-2

看不見的部分是現實的重要部分。事實上,隱藏在結構裏的架構決定了結構的大部分的功能。能明白到這一點,這是非常重要的;我們不能把我們所有的時間精力,都花在可見的世界上,正如聖經提醒我們;

Since heavens are the larger part of the reality, it is the purpose of this website to remind friends and truth seekers on the things above as revealed in the Holy Scripture. May our Lord Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever, bless all of us in our little ways to seek Him for His glory.

Seeking The Things Above

This is a famous ancient Chinese poetry about the sad acknowledgment of the finiteness of life, eventual passing of events in life, and hope of heavenly aspiration. It is indeed very interesting to observe that in human history, irregardless of cultures, political systems, and languages, men tend to look beyond the sad feeling of finiteness of this life for heavenly life.

Throughout human history, men tried everything to extend human life without success including the investment of billions of dollars in disease control and prevention in our time. Actually, the sooner we recognize our limitation and the lost cause of this world, the better we will come back to our Creator and place our ultimate trust in Jesus Christ our Lord. Death came along because of sin and without the atonement of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, there is indeed no hope for mankind.

We cannot but wonder ‘Does anyone think about this?’. You may ask ‘Think about what?’. Think about what we should do about this sad feeling of the finiteness of this life. We think that everyone does think about this; but probably will not do any good because there is nothing that we can do. That is probably why poets expressed this feeling in poetry in all cultures throughout history.

Actually, if you read the Bible carefully, you will find this is why our Creator came to save us. We should know that death was never the intent of God in His creation. You can read this in Genesis Chapter 1. Since we are in the generation of the baby boomers, there are many seniors in our midst. The issue of the finite life and imperfection of each and all human events and relationships is indeed overwhelming as we approach seniority of this age. Our experience confirmed time and again about uncertainty and futility of this world ranging from man-made terrorist events and natural disasters such as earthquakes and fires and floods happening so frequently in our time.

Against all this gloomy and hopeless situation, there is indeed a great salvation door opening for us to return to our Creator to enjoy eternal unceasing joyful fellowship with Him. That is why throughout human history, we have saints before us such as:

1. Abraham by faith, looked for the City of God in Hebrews 11:16.
2. Noah by faith built an ark to save his family as told in Hebrew 11:7.
3. Saint Paul by faith forsook the worldly things and sought Christ as his ultimate treasure as described in Philippians 3: 8-9.

What so remarkable is and our confidence is as follows;
The Bible told us not just for the saints that are examples of righteous people, but also for sinners and the down and out people like the prostitute Rahab.  She also by faith obtained her salvation as described in Hebrews 11:31. Thus, the good news is that the door is open for anyone who will place his/her trust in Jesus Christ our Lord.

的確是值得我們注意及使我們得著信心,是如下所述;

Indeed because of the hopelessness of the world, we entreat you to think about the things above as told in Colossians 3: 1-4.

We close this encouragement with the hymn “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”:

O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home:

上帝是我千古保障,是我將來盼望;

Under the shadow of thy throne,
thy saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
and our defense is sure.

在主寶座蔭庇之下,聖徒平安蒙福;

Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting thou art God,

to endless years the same.

A thousand ages in thy sight
are like an evening gone;
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
bears all its sons away;
they fly, forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day.

似箭光陰如川不息,世人瞬間即逝;

O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
be thou our guide while troubles last,
and our eternal home!

恩主是我千古幫助,是我將來盼望;
